Whoberley Chess Club
Meets every Tuesday at the Standard Triumph Social Club, Tile Hill Lane, Coventry (just off the A45). The club opens between 19.15 and 19.30.
Male and female players of all ages and abilities are welcomed for friendly or serious chess.

Beginners or near beginners can enjoy a game in the club each Tuesday evening with facilities including several bars. Whilst more experienced players represent the club, either home or away in several teams in the Coventry and District Leagues. In recent years the Whoberley Club has won the Midlands Club Championship, the Midlands Plate and at one stage or another every division in the Coventry League.
The picture below is of John Evans the former secretary and founder of Whoberley Chess Club who was for decades the driving force in its organisation and smooth running and thus helped in all Whoberley's achievements. His enthusiasm will be sorely missed.
