Christmas
Tree Festival

Arrangements
and Plans for our Christmas Tree Festival have proceeded much quicker than we
expected and therefore it is only right that we should bring people up to date.
A number of people have asked if they can sponsor a tree including five
Schools, to date there are only four trees left for Sponsorship. We shall not
exclude people from joining in, in other ways or sponsoring other parts of the
Festival. i. e. refreshments and publicity. We may have to consider ways in
which we can incorporate more trees.
Four School Carol Services and a
Concert will take place during the Festival and of course our own Carol
Service. The Church will be open on Saturday and Sunday 13th/14th
December and there will be Refreshments in the Church Hall along with some
stalls selling Christmas Gifts etc and there will be Prize Draws throughout the
Festival, including a Programme Draw.
Two trees which need special
mention are the “Tree of Smiles” This tree will be decorated with photographs
of children from our Parish and Schools and alongside it will be a Copper
Mountain. Please collect your copper coins and place them in the buckets in the
Church or Church Hall. All the copper will be given to the Smile Train Appeal.
(A group of Surgeons who help children with deformed faces and help them to
smile.) All young people are invited to have their photo (Not more than 2”x2”,
please) on the tree.
The other tree is the “Memory
Tree” for a donation of £1 or more anyone may hang a Card (supplied) on the
tree with the name of anybody or anything they particularly want to remember.

The next meeting about the
Festival will be in Church on Monday September 15th at 7.30pm.

It
starts on Saturday 12th December with the Opening Service at
10.30am. That day and the following day there will be stalls in the Church Hall
and Refreshments.
The
Weekend of Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th the Church will
be Open and the Carol
Service will be on Sunday 18th at 6.30pm.
