HOT CORRIE RETURN FOR ADAM
Someone needed to inject Corrie with a bit of action,and thank goodness Adam Rickitt has been that man.
With the impending arrival of Keith Dufy in the soap too, Adam’s comeback couldn’t have come at abetter time.
He’s lined up a saucy storyline and told bosses no more pecs-out shots. But he’ll still be impressing the laydees.
All grown up, and with the dapper business suits to prove it, Nick Tilsley’s back in Weatherfield a new man.
“I’d been asked before to come back,” reveals Adam Rickitt, “but I couldn’t because of other commitments.
I was really keen to do this five-week storyline. I have loads of good friends here and some really good memories.”
Look out the dusters! TV sets are steaming up with Adam Rickitt and Samia Ghadie as hot new Corrie couple, Nick and Maria.
“Our attitude was, if we’re going to do the kissing scenes, don’t do them all teenagery and sweet,” explains Adam.
“There’s a harder way to make your living than sitting with her naked all day (ooh-err young man!). We wanted to make it in your-face and adult.”
Sadly for the laydees, there’s no chance of seeing the famous Adam Rickitt pecs now he’s back in Coronation Street.
“ I told the scriptwriters they milked every single penny’s worth out of it last time and I didn’t particularly enjoy doing it,” he reveals.
“ I wanted a bit more control this time and said I’d wear at-shirt or a vest, I wasn’t going to do Nick topless.”
While it’s nice to catch up with his old mates, the best thing about being back in Corrie is the lack of floppy hair.
Adam Rickitt is chuffed that since leaving the soap he was able to lop off his blond locks.
“I loathed long hair,” he chuckles. “I got stuck with it for four years or something ridiculous. It was awful.”
Honing his skills in Rent has improved Adam Rickitt’s acting no end.
“Out of everything I’ve done it’s been the biggest learning experience,” he muses.
“I did a years tour and then three months in London’s West End.
“It was hard work and I got laryngitis, but it was still amazing.”
