PAUL ANKA WITH THE JOHNNY HARRIS ORCHESTRA
The pictures
of Johnny in black are from a Paul Anka concert at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas
circa 1975. The earlier pictures of Johnny in purple are from New Years Eve
1969 performing on "Pop Goes The Sixties" for British television.
Vegas:
Curtain up - Johnny conducts the musicians through an instrumental Anka
medley (She's A Lady, My Way, etc), then;announcer "And here he is Mr. Paul
Anka" - Paul strides onto the stage and thanks the band before launching
into Jubilation. A few minutes later he leaves to give Johnny centre stage
for the blazing climax of the song with the band. Cut to later in the show
as Anka talks about meeting Johnny in England and hands the stage over again
as the band perform an incredible version of 2001 Deodato jazz funk style
featuring wah-wah guitar, drums, horns, congas, Mellotron and wild strings.
This section runs 11.24.
From
1969 we have the British Johnny Harris orchestra performing an amazing
"Movements" style version of Satisfaction (the Rolling Stones hit); with
wah-wah guitar, dynamic drums (you see Harold Fisher in close up bang those
drums!) and wild strings. Johnny is seen gyrating in legendary fashion with
the sexy Ascot Dancers. This section runs 3.04.
