However we are still available for general enquiries on our normal email address
Hello, we are Barbara and John of BJ's Stud.
We are located on the South Coast of England
and have been breeding and exhibiting long
haired cavies for 18 years.      We
specialise in Coronets and Shelties but also
have a small, select stud of Texels and Merinos.

Over the years we have had many successes
at shows and have sent breeding and show
stock to many parts of the British Isles as well
as to fanciers overseas.

If you are interested in cavies, longhaired or
otherwise, then please contact us.  If you wish
to obtain longhair stock we are sure we can help.

However we are also happy to be here just for a
chat or to help with a second opinion if you have
any problems with your furry friends.

We look forward to hearing from anyone who
has the same interests as us wherever you
may live.  Who knows perhaps, even if you
live the other side of the world, we may meet
one day.

This is Lucy, a sheltie.
She took many best
in show awards
This is Chubacca, a
Merino.  He won many
Best Rare Variety awards.

As you will see from these photographs, although all the breeds of cavy which we have are longhaired they are, in some way, all different.

The sheltie  has a  long  smooth coat  with  the hair  being brushed back from the face when being shown.

The coronet also has a long smooth coat but has a crest on the head.  When showing coronets the coat is parted down the centre as far as the hips and then brushed down over the rump.

The Texel is a curly  version of  the sheltie  because  it does not have a crest but when showing the texel the coat is parted like the coronet.

The Merino is the curly version of the coronet and is shown in the same way.

This is Dallas, a
Coronet. She won
many Best Coronet
awards
