BRISTOL REGION.

The current Bristol region has been running since 1999 and at present has 30 members, both male and female ranging in age from 8 to 60.
Local members fish all over the British Isles for pike with the largest caught by a regional member being Carl Garratt's 44lb 6oz monster from Llandeggfedd.
The region holds meetings between September and March (excluding December) mostly with a guest speaker/slideshow all of which are open to all.Other events include bring and buy sales where you can offload your unwanted bits & pieces and then spend the money on someone else's rubbish ! (see Meetings page for this years meetings/speakers).
P.A.C members receive a quarterly magazine called Pikelines, which is full of valuable information on rigs, tackle, methods, etc. Besides this, members can gain privileged access to events in various parts of the country on waters such as Llandeggfedd Reservoir, the Lake of Menteith and Keilder Water to name but a few.
Membership details can be found on the clubs website www.pacgb.com  as can details of all privileged access events arranged for this year plus lots, lots more.
Locally, there is a regional subscription of £5 levied on the adult members to cover the costs of photocopying and postage of the regional newsletter "Luce-talk" which normally goes out bi-monthly and also to help reduce the cost of purchasing and engraving trophies.
Also available to all is a P.A.C book "Pike Fishing Beyond 2000; which can be purchased via the main PAC website at £8.00 inc p&p (overseas add £3.00) or from local tackle shops,Veals in Bristol and Somerset Angling in Bridgwater.
Other local(ish) regions in the South-west are Bridgwater,Devon,Plymouth & Cornwall and West Cornwall with neighbouring regions including Swindon,South Wales and Cotswold.
Juniors are well catered for,our junior section having (unusually!) more girls than lads with the lads being outnumbered 5 to 1.
The region holds several events each year in the form of fish-in's plus an annual lure - fishing day with trophies for the best pike caught by adult and junior members ( this years winners  Paul Weston and Sarah Hopton (10) ), plus the annual Martin Brown Memorial Trophy awarded to the regional member who catches the largest pike from the Bristol Avon each season between June 16th/March 14th.
Current holder is Paul Hughes who caught a superb fish of  23lb 12oz.
Also, each season sees the South-West Trophy event fished for by members of the areas regions. This event rotates between the regions with each taking it in turns to organise the event. Unfortunately,it only seems to be won by a member of either the Bridgwater or Devon regions, who have maintained a stranglehold on the event since it's inception, this seasons event being no exception, with Devon's Steve Moore winning for the 2nd consecutive year on the River Tone.
To see pictures of specimens caught by regional members, visit our regional gallery by clicking on the link provided below.
Regional members don't just concentrate on pike with many fine examples of other species such as barbel, carp, tench being landed each season amongst which is what is probably the biggest roach ever caught on a lure in this country at 3lb 2oz. Members also globe-trot regularly with trips after some of the planets finest sporting species such as mahseer in India,Nile perch, catfish in Spain plus tarpon and sailfish in Florida.
