Burma Research Electronic Discussion Group (BuRe)
Welcome to Europe's electronic forum for the academic study of pre-contemporary Burma.
What is Bure?
Although the Burma Research Electronic Discussion Group is an organization of scholars of Burma based in Europe, we also benefit from the participation of researchers from Japan, Australia, North America, and Southeast Asia. The Burma Research Electronic Discussion Group is intended for scholarly exchange regarding the culture, history, and society of Burma. However, due to the wide availability of other email groups for the discussion of contemporary Burma, including Burmese politics, this topic is precluded from BuRe's scope.
Subscription Information
Membership in BuRe is not anonymous within the group, so that members can discuss their research, make suggestions, or field questions with an awareness of who is on the receiving end. Potential subscribers should provide their name, instutional affiliation, and the nature of their research. Please note that membership is currently limited to those who can demonstrate verifiable university or research institute affiliation and a clear research interest in Burmese history, culture, and society.
