Tom Hunter was part of Wolves' first professional team as well as one of their first signings. When the club were given permission to turn pro in 1885 they instantly made the journey down the road to Walsall to capture Hunter's signature. Four years later Hunter had become part of the club's first season in the football league. His fame at Wolves looked to be sealed when he scored the second goal in their 3-1 semi final win over Blackburn to book their first cup final appearance. Sadly for Hunter their easy defeat against Preston ensured that their efforts were soon forgotten when Wolves did lift the cup in 1893. Hunter by that time had moved on.
