ABOUT CHRIS HARVEY
(and what made him want to be a Storyteller)
Born in Wigan Lancashire in 1967, Chris Harvey started writing macabre tales whilst still at school, first inspired by the likes of James Herbert, Guy N.Smith, Glenn Chandler (and similar such 'Nasty' novelists, as they were provocatively labelled in the late 70s/early 80s) and also by the Pan Book of Horror series of books which were very popular around that time (still a popular buy and sell with online auction sites!). British 'portmanteau' films 'Tales From the Crypt' and 'The Vault of Horror', whilst on the small screen Brian Clemens' classic 'Thriller', followed by 'Beasts' then 'Armchair Thriller'  and 'Roald Dahl's Tales of the Unexpected' continued to feed and inspire his vivid imagination.

As well as short stories he also writes screenplays, teleplays and stage plays and in 2007 achieved success in the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) event by succesfully writing a 50,000 novel throughout the month of November with his mystery (and quite surreal!!) novel "WISHBONE". He'd really like to write a song, but seems never to get around to it... 'It's fermenting away somewhere in the heart, mind and soul, so maybe one day?' is his excuse!

He has also produced and directed small budget films, many of which he has also written.

Though horror and the macabre feature prominently in his work, he also writes straight drama and comedy and has penned a trial episode for the Channel 4 teen soap HOLLYOAKS. He has also appeared on TV in front of the cameras as a supporting artiste, predominantly in police uniform in the likes of COLD BLOOD, starring Matthew Kelly, and as "Pope's Italian Guard" in the upcoming BBC1 supernatural thriller series starring Martin Shaw as a priest: APPARITIONS.

When he isn't writing he is a keen semi-professional photographer, enjoys playing the piano/keyboards on his (quick plug) CASIO Privia PX400R, WK3200 and YAMAHA NP-30, having a good laugh ('helps to stay sane'), video games, watching and playing tennis, drinking alcohol, cinema and theatre, watching THE NEW AVENGERS, TAGGART, COLUMBO, DOCTOR WHO, 24, CSI and THE BILL; listening to the 'Super Swedes' ABBA, Keane, Texas, Scissor Sisters and A-ha, and the music of John Williams, Laurie Johnson, Jerry Goldsmith, Sean Callery and Chopin.

His work has appeared in magazines (including the Guy N. Smith Fanzine Graveyard Rendezvous), online, on screen and on stage and he has achieved success in several writing competitions (receiving a prize of a £250 silver MontBlanc pen for his efforts in one). 'GRIM RENDEZVOUS' is his first published short story collection.

He is 40 years young, single, and lives and writes in the North West of England.
