Doctors Needed !
Doctors are urgently needed needed for Dogura, Koinambe, and Oro Bay - to visit people where they live, sometimes two days' walk across difficult terrain - many people in remote areas in PNG do not receive any medical treatment.   Since VSO doctors, Jess & Richard Keeble, 'went finish' in February 06 from Koinambe (an area of malnourishment in the Jimi Valley) there has been no doctor..   Click here for an inspiring account of Jess & Richard's work from Mission Aviation Fellowship:  MAF provide a wonderful service - a lifeline - for isolated PNG communities.  Click here for a report by medical electives, Mary & Sarah.   Whilst there are no doctors for them to shadow, we cannot refer applications for electives...
Are you a doctor ?    Do you know of someone who would like to give two to three years in the developing world?   If so, send us your c.v. - NOW, while you think of it!    Click here - AHS Doctors    Aspiring medical electives click on this link, and (Student BMJ) and for another elective's view of PNG, click here.
Other staff are needed ----
Urgent Vacancies:    Diocesan Secretaries are needed (i) now, for Dogura (Bp. Tevita Talanoa) and, (ii) for Aipo Rongo (Abp. James Ayong) when PNGCP recruit Dennis Khoo 'goes finish' this year.  Job Description here.   Since the untimely death of Br. Justus SSF in Dec. 06 Lecturers are urgently needed for Newton Theological College.   Job description here. Could you give two years to a poor church in a developing country? Do you know someone who might?  Send your c.v. today to Chris Luxton at PNGCP.   Recruitment is ecumenical, and we liaise with other agencies:  we are pleased that PNGCP recruit, Kola Akinola who heads up HIV/AIDS work for ACPNG, is also supported by USPG.
Finding and Funding....
The Churches in PNG play a key rôle in providing Health Care and Education for some of the world's poorest people.   PNGCP responds to requests from the Anglican Church for skilled, experienced support staff to work in governmentally approved posts.   We are delighted that, in Feb. 2008, Gill Wilkinson, chartered accountant/former VSO in Garuahi and Koinambe 40 yrs. ago (when they were young!) started work in Lae as Manager, Accounting & Admin. following in the footsteps of a former PNGCP recruit, Laraine Earle.

It costs money -
....to interview/medically examine enquirers - to fly successful candidates out - pay their allowances, including furlough; Volunteer Development Worker NI contributions, fares to/fees for, an orientation course at the Melanesian Institute....and finally, Resettlement Grants on return to UK...
....in fact, an average of  £40 per person per week

The Rt Revd Peter Fox, former Bishop of  Port Moresby, & family returned to UK in July 2006 -- Martin Gardham, & his Australian wife, Aileen, 'went finish' after 19 yrs. in a variety of Admin. posts (and combined service of over  30 yrs.!) arriving back in UK in April 2006.   John & Della Rea returned to Edinburgh in Nov.06   We are enormously grateful for all they have achieved, and to those whose (often sacrificial) giving to PNGCP has made these appointments possible.   Would you consider helping PNGCP pay staff allowances and Resettlement Grants?   A gift this year would be greatly appreciated.
The UK Tax concession, Gift Aid enables us to reclaim an extra one-third.   Tenkyu tru...!
