(March.2003).  At both Kelmarsh and Gt. Oxendon tunnels the portals and wing walls, at the entrances to both bores, have been cleared of vegetation.  Also the drainage channels on top of and around the sides of the entrances have been cleared of any obstructions.  This action will allow a much improved run-off of rainwater which may otherwise result in damage to the fabric of the tunnels.

(March 2003).  On the 10th. March a team of ten volunteers, under the guidance and supervision of the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV), began working at various locations along the BVW.  The team, from various parts of the UK, and including three from as far away as Japan, concentrated the bulk of their efforts at Kelmarsh station, where they have successfully removed the majority of the brambles and litter from the embankment adjacent to the car park.  Their work will ensure that the wildflowers and grasses will blossom to their full extent this year.  The summer will be a testament to their hard work.

(13 March 2003).  A new seat was installed along the Brampton Valley Way, north of Merry Tom Lane.  The seat and backrest, made of Douglas Fir, was constructed and finished by hand at Brixworth Country Park, and was funded by a generous donation from an appreciative member of the public.
