This club only realy came into being early 2003, as the result of the merger between the RAF Cottesmore and RAF Wittering MAC. Previously the clubs operated separately, each having a healthy membership until the vagaries of service life took it's toll and both clubs ended up with only a small number of members.

By 2001 the membership of RAF Wittering MAC was increasing again, but the movement of the Harriers to RAF Cottesmore meant that many of the members would have to go with them. Luckily this didn't deter them from making the 13 mile journey down th A1 to the Wittering airfield, this may not seem like much, but lets remember they live and work on an airbase.

Since RAF Cottesmore and RAF Wittering were now operating as one unit, the members decided to do the same with the model clubs. By doing this we also helped redress the 50% service, 50% civilian membership policy encouraged by the Royal Air Force Model Aircraft Association.

The club is now known as the 'Harrier Force Model Club', because almost everything that concerns the two stations is now reffered to as 'Harrier Force'. We are now a Royal Air Force Model Aircraft Association, therefore BMFA affiliated, model aircraft club, with two flying sites and club houses.
