Duncan Bradley was born in Leeds, Yorkshire in 1950. He was educated at Burton on Trent Grammar School during which time he was an organ student at Lichfield Cathedral studying with Richard Greening MA BMus(Oxon)FRCO. In 1968, he entered the Birmingham School of Music continuing his organ studies with George Miles. In 1970, he gained the diplomas of ABSM(General Musicianship) and ABSM(Organ) and one year later, graduated GBSM. After a year's teacher training, he was awarded the Certificate in Education from the University of Reading.

After teaching posts in the Midlands and the South of England, in 1979, he was appointed to the staff of the Gregg School, Southampton where he is Director of Music. In addition to his normal teaching commitments, he directs the wind band and choir as well as directing the music for the school's annual musical production. Duncan has also held organist positions at churches in the Midlands, and in Hampshire, latterly at Beaulieu Abbey and Boldre Parish Church, both in the New Forest. His interests in music range from Church Music, in particular plainsong, to military music and also the music of Delius. Since 1987 he has been an Oblate of Alton Abbey, an Anglican Benedictine monastery in Hampshire. Outside the sphere of music, his main hobby is photography.
He has appeared on television with Ronnie Corbett and latterly in 1982 with the late Dick Emery in the series "Legacy of Murder." He has also broadcast on the radio.

He has recently recommenced his organ studies, this time with Philip White-Jones MA(Cantab) FRCO, the assistant organist at Winchester Cathedral and has begun to re-establish himself as an organ recitalist. In 2006, Duncan was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Saint Cecilia.
Having lost his first wife Wendy in 2002, Duncan has since married Margaret who is a Headteacher in Southampton. Duncan has two children; Jonathan has a first class honours degree in Nursing from the University of Southampton and is currently serving as a nurse with the Royal Navy. He is married to Zoe (who is also a nurse and has served with the Army) and has one son. Duncan's daughter, Helen, has a first class honours degree in Early Childhood Studies and Social Sciences from Christ Church University, Canterbury. She is currently a teacher adviser for early years based in Kent.
