3. List of men whose service papers are included in the WO 97 Supplementary Series (WO 97/6323 to WO 97/6383) at the National Archives, Kew, can be found HERE. These papers are among the few actually available on-line as they have been scanned. A list of the men whose papers are in the WO 131 (delayed pensions) papers can be found HERE.

Ted Beard of the MInehead Family History group has undertaken the task of transcribing the names of the men on the medal roll for the British Army campaign in Burma from 1887 to 1889. This roll (WO 100/73 at the National Archives) will be indexed on THIS PAGE with regiments added as he completes them. Questions on the rolls, or for photographic/.pdf copies of the original rolls should be addressed to Ted.

Ted has also completed the transcriptions of the Royal Navy medal rolls for the campaign in Abyssinia in 1867-8 (transcribed from ADM 171/38 at the National Archives) - the index of the men on the ships can be found at this index page.

The story of Frank Fry, who served in the Royal Engineers from 1884 to 1914 can be found here. My thanks to Fred Larimore & Ed de Santis for background material.

I have been advised of a project to database the men present in the Ashantee Campaign of 1873-4 by using the medal rolls. Neil has sent me this Link to his site.

Another little database provided by Neil Boulton is the index of the Greenwich Hospital entry books for 1839 to 1846.. over 3000 men in total. This index can be found here..
The index to the 1824-31 Greenwich entry book transcribed by Ted Beard can be found here and that of the 1847-53 entry book as transcribed by Stuart Elliott is here. The last addition, the 1832-38 book, transcribed by Ted Beard & Ralph Daly is here.

Bill Wilson has transcribed medal rolls for the Indian General Service medal 1895-1902 for the campaign on the Punjab Frontier in 1897-8. The following regiments are listed here..

Ted Beard has transcribed Royal Marines Marriage data from books held at the National Archives. The following is so far complete:-

Ted Beard has also transcribed the index books for Army Deaths in the following periods:-

Another source recommended to me is the North East War Memorials project, which includes memorials from across that Region of the UK - the site can be found at www.newmp.org.uk

Bill Wilson has completed the indexing of the men on the medal rolls of the Royal Irish Fusiliers during the Boer War of 1899-1902 and this list can be found HERE.

Ted Beard has completed the difficult task of deciphering the material in the Depot book of the 1st & 2nd Battalions of the 13th Foot for the approx period 1857-78. I have photographic copies of most of these books.. a useful source! Ted's data is HERE for the 1st Battalion and HERE for the 2nd.

It might be noted from the above that I haven't completed much myself in the past few months. I am currently working on an index of discharged soldiers from 1871 to 1879, my index is currently at 42,000+, but is nowhere near  complete (I have done all the Foot Guards, Dragoon Guards and Foot Regiments to the 47th). Details to follow in due course!
