THE FISHING

Summer hasn't really started or so it seems and this has seen the carp at Evesbatch in a funny mood as they havn't had the water temperatures to spawn properly this year. However most days large numbers of double figure fish can be seen mooching around just below the surface. they are taking surface baits but are annoyingly clever at ignoring the one with the hook so presentation must be spot on for the best results. Margin fishing is working well later in the day with pellet and luncheon meat remaining the top baits. Top tip is to get your rig under any overhanging branches or feature as the fish seem to like the cover. Recent matches have been producing weights around the 60lb mark. The match on the Bottom lake on Sun 10th August was won with 62lb 8oz made up of 14lb of skimmers and crucians and 48lb 8oz of carp betwen 10oz and a 15lb lump caught on pellet meat and corn. Another top tip is to fish for the skimmers in the deeper water with pellet. Use 0.15 line with a soft elastic (white hydro or equivalent) they are not line shy and this will allow you to land carp which will move in on that line at some stage.

The lane to the Top car park has now been repaired so that cars can get in.

Please check the rule board before fishing to avoid any embarrassment, inparticular the 'no braid rule', this rule is in place to protect the fish as braid is far more abrasive than mono and can act like a saw causing damage to fishes mouths.
Also note that keepnets are not allowed except in pre booked matches
