Dharma Yatra: Pilgrimage of Peace

Derek is currently embarking on a 'pilgrimage' connecting places of Yoga activity.

The pilgrimage commenced on Saturday 15th December 2007 at Anita West's home Foulness Island, Rochford District, Essex, England.

The route to date is as follows :-

2007 Dharma Yatra

Foulness Island (Anita's Home)
Gt. Wakering     (Pam Owen's classes at Memorial Hall, currently covered by Derek)
Rochford, via Sutton and Barling (Lynette Reeves classes)
Hockley, via Hawkwell (Derek's classes)
Battlesbridge, via Dawn's Retreat, Hullbridge, Rochford and Raweth

2007 journey ended with the Rite to Yemana on 31st December 2007 at Battlesbridge lock

2008 : Journey commenced from Battlesbridge lock 1st January

Installed new fuseboard at hosts home

1st Jan Battlesbridge to South Hanningfield, via Rettenden village (Karen Edwards).

Thanks to Karen for cosy jumper!

Onto Billericay via Stock and Stock Brook Manor (Where Karen McQueen Teaches).

Repaired gutter at hosts home.

Moved onto Shenfield via Hutton (tracks very muddy and waterlogged).

Installed lights in hosts hall.

Continued journey to Brentwood breathed, danced, chanted and made merry with Jacqueline Bier and friends at Dragons Club.

Cleared hosts conservatory.

Continued walk via Cranham to Upminster.

(Covered class for Angela E. Thompson in Romford)

Continued on into Ilford, intending to drop into Green Lane Ashram (seems to have disappreared, ?!)

(Covered another class at Esporta  for Angei)

Continued onto Redbridge, via Redcliffe Gardens, then S. Woodford, Leytonstone, Lower Clapton, Hackney, Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, City, Blackfriars,Waterloo, Lambeth,Vauxhall, Clapham, Battersea, Lavender Hill, Wandsworth, Putney (Stopped for Tea and Meditation at Sivananda Centre).

Continued on to Notting Hill, via Fulham, Chelsea, South Ken, Hyde Park &  Ken Gardens

Dropped into The Life Centre and then continued on through Portabello road, up Ladbroke Grove and onto Kensall rise (Special Yoga Centre).

Continued North East and spent time admiring both the new Wembley Stadium and the Swaminaryan Mandir (Neasdon Hindu Temple), Stadium wins on scale but Mandir is a fascinating 'must' for any traditional Yoga enthusiast.

Did some vegetable gardening for host.

Continued North-West through Brent, Harrow-on-the-Hill (boys playing football in tailsuits! (very LordSnooty ;-)) and finished evening at Hatch End.
