We adopted Toby, and his brother Kyle (Lydfords Ken Chin) in 1995, the poor little men had had 4 homes in their first year, and we got them when their owner decided he'd become allergic to them (he subsequently found he was actually allergic to milk, but didn't want them back).
Toby and I didn't really get on, he hated the dogs, and me as I associated with them, and the feeling was pretty mutual! However, in 2000, my parents were posted to Nigeria, and decided it would be too dangerous for the cats, so Ky came to me and Toby went to my brother.
Unfortunately, Ky was stolen not long after he arrived, and Toby didn't settle at all with Shannon (understatement!), so reluctantly I said I'd have him, and we haven't looked back.
Like most Siamese, he's extremely loyal, and he won't go near anyone unless I'm there, so there's no risk of him being stolen. He's fine with the dogs now, though he still occasionally, and quite rightly, put's one in it's place.
I still have one problem with him, he's very heavy and likes to lay on my stomach - NOT pleasant first thing in the morning!
