About The Pictures

This site contains some photographs that I took at the IOWSR during 2001 and 2002, which I hope may be of some interest to other IOW railway enthusiasts. I have now scanned all of these, 75 in total. As I was rather disappointed with the quality of the first 45 scans (scanned using a cheap and cheerful Plustek scanner) I borrowed an Epson Perfection scanner for the remaining 30.

Most pictures were taken with my rather aged Olympus Mju (the original version). The rest were taken with my a Panasonic APS. All of these pictures were taken during holidays and a daytrip to the Island, I consider them to be snapshots, so please don't expect too much in the way of artistic or technical merit!

In case anyone is wondering about the appearance of Stepney and Fenchurch in some of the pictures, these two "Bluebell" engines visited the IOWSR during 2001. The pictures here were taken during that year's Terrier festival.

On the subject of Terriers, you may notice a distinct bias towards Mr Stroudley's creations here. To some degree this does reflect my own interest in this class of locomotive, but mainly results from the other locomotives not having been around when I've been taking photos.

You will also find one shot of an Island Line EMU in dinosaur livery.
