SMELL MY FINGER

NEWS FLASH

Last updated 26/6/06.
NEWS FLASH - Although the band continue to flourish, with Alan now fitting in well on bass, and our first gig under our belt with the new line up, we are winding up THIS web page. It is both costly and crap, and we can give you more on the new MYSPACE site we have created. This site will continue to function until they pull the plug on us for not paying the bill. Instead you should visit WWW.MYSPACE.COM/SMELLMYFINGERUK (or for now follow the link at the bottom of the page).

Our music:

We are a four piece band, comprising of - Julie on vocals, Stuart on guitar, Alan on bass and Simon on drums.
Our set comprises around 50% cover versions - with many by Green Day and The Sex Pistols, with others by The Ramones, Damned, Anti Nowhere League, Ruts, Undertones etc.

Two E.P.s have been pressed, containing our own material. These are:

'SMELL NO EVIL' EP (recorded Feb '02), which contains the tracks:
'Lagerneese' - about the language you speak when pissed.
'Classroom Carnage' - the story of a teaher with a grudge (and a gun).
'Hit List' - which covers all the people you would want to 'take out' if you were terminally ill.
'Spectator Sport' and
'What's it all about'.

'FULL OF SELF IMPOTENCE' EP (Recorded April '03), which contains the tracks:
'Better off Dead' - which is about someone who obviousely really pissed Julie off at some point.
'Day Trip' - a warning about going for a drive when you've taken too many drugs.
'Everything' - an acousic song (honest).
'Nothing' - which is a song (and not 3 minutes of silence).
'Poetry' - one minute of shouting.
Plus a cover of 'So What' by The Anti Nowhere League.

Copies are available on a 'you ask for one - we burn one' basis and can be orded via the e-mail adress below, or at gigs (£3.50 by post, £3.00 at gigs, or free if Richard fancies you).

To reduce costs, these two E.P.s have been amalgamated into the 11 track L.P. 'Better off Dead'. (£5.00/£5.50)

The track 'Better off Dead' is also available on the compilation album 'Eclectic Collections Vol 3', on the now defunced Bandtattoo label (that'll teach 'em).

Concert Information

PREVIOUS GIGS

26 June 02. Played THE VIADUCT, in Mansfield, to a small but enthusiastic audiance.

2 July 02. Saw our drummer appear live on Radio 1, playing on Mark & Lards 'Circle of Chance'

11 July 02. Played at 'Minority' at The Family Room on Hadey Hill, Chesterfield, sandwitched between 'Abide'(nu-metal) and 'The Gangsters'(ska).

8 August 02. Back again to the Family Rooms. This time toping the bill.

20 August 02. LOOP, Bridlington. God almighty. I hope we never, EVER, return to this God forsaken town, where the local inbreds would obviously rather go and see a Shakin' Stevens impersonator at the Pavillion, than come and see us. For those who missed it we did an excellent set, and blooded a new song of ours - 'Better off Dead'.

24 August 02. Did our bit for chiridy by playing at the 'Racecourse Rock' all-dayer, at the RACECOURSE TAVERN, Whittington Moor, Chesterfield. Thankfully, this year, our singer was not 7 months pregnant at the time.
Went down a storm - thank God for normal people, from a normal town (are you listening Bridlington).

3 October 02. After a 17 month wait we made our return to THE GREEN ROOM, Chesterfield. Supported by 'Kicking Pigeons'.

13 November 02. See us at The Grapes, Trippet Lane (off West Street), Sheffield - Plus Support - Kicking Pigeons, again. CANCELLED - DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND.

15 November 02. Returned to THE GREEN ROOM, Chesterfield, along with The Apocalypse Babys, Pointy Bob and One Man Stand. Debuted a new song of our own,'Nothing' tonight.

16 November 02. Took part in the punk All-Dayer, at THE MLL, in Mansfield, along with the U.K. SUBS and a host of other bands.

1 March 03. Went down a storm at THE YORKSHIRE VOLUNTEER, MIRFIELD. Sold 3 CD's. Does that get us into the charts?

20 April 03. Saw us perform a short accoustic set (without Richard)at THE FISHPOND, MATLOCK.

12 July 03 - Private Party at the secret country home of Dr Evil.

8 August 03 - Returned to the venue of our first proper gig - ROSE & CROWN, CRESWELL. Must have done something right - the landlord payed us extra money.

3 November 03 - We was robbed. Due to our singers inability to scream incomprihendably for 20 minutes we progressed no further then this, the first semi-final of the Derbyshire Times 'Battle of the Bands', at THE WINDING WHEEL, CHESTERFIELD.

20 December 03 - FROG & NIGHTGOWN, WORKSOP. For one night only Richard was replaced by guest guitarist Jason Street (of Cold Gin). This was also Jeffs last gig.

14 Feb 05 - Travellers Rest, Clowne. Why do we fucking bother? What was billed as the Travellers inaugural jam night ,with three quarters of SMF providing all instruments, and also the kick start for others to get up and have a go, turned out to be a travesty, with no other bastard turning up. Never again.

1 Oct 05 - Casbah, Sheffield. CANCELLED

17 Dec 05 - Boot & Shoe, Whitwell. Free gig/party to celebrate the 40th birthday of Simon, the drummist.

Sat 27 May 06 - Boot & Shoe, Whitwell. Support from - Chris Murphy and Snitch, plus Lost for Words.

FORTHCOMING GIGS

Fri 14 July - Spikes, Mansfield Woodhouse (get there early, we are on at 8:30)

Fri 4 Aug 06 - Black Market, Warsop.

Alternativelly, we can be seen drinking and smoking (under the pretence of practising), every Tuesday, at The Boot & Shoe, Whitwell.
