In the northern sector of the Wadi Mineh is Winkler's Site 24b in a crevice formed by fallen rocks and on top of them. In the cave are inscriptions in hieroglyphs, Latin and Greek, including "Eros was here."
Another magnificent boat petroglyph. Compare with boat on the Narmer palette and boat models in the Cairo museum and Louvre. On the prow is a falcon-one of perhaps only two in the Eastern Desert rock art. The falcon perches horizontally, suggesting that this is either a Naqada III or up to midway of Dynasty I boat since after this the falcon perches in an upright manner. Right: a sailboat, probably dynastic. Both images are on the top of the middle rock.
INSIDE THE CAVE
There is a massof rock art inside, including this boat with a row of figures nderneath. It is right at the back and low down, necessitating a turn on to one's back lying on the cave floor.
Two similar boats with an arms raised figure; one from just inside the entrance and another from deep inside the site which I simply cannot photograph even though I have seen this site three times. Right: dynastic Min.
A selection of rock art from Site 25A in the south section of the Wadi Mineh on the east side of a small side wadi with: boats-including one with a central figure arms on hips, spirals, "gaming board," and crocodile.
