Carrol's Poems
Canoe on the chipeweh
Autumn spills into the lake
summer flies no more swarm
along the shore slipping paddle forward
quiet as a moon beam falling into the stillness
night comes to the chipewa
drums, muffeled, cry out the wolves soulful answer
orion sits the throne and beckons
lake looks as if it rises into the sky
stars float like still fairies on the surface
journey looks to have no end
cloud, the keeper of the moon has released
and new dimensions take place
life in the forest comes to drink
I pass with out a whisper
silence shouts
and my name answers
my breath has returned
but not a sound I`ve made

Breath
I sat there closed my eyes
and thought of life without her
I held my breath and thought
of not breathing her in
I kept my mouth closed
and thought of our last kiss
I felt my pulse and knew
it was the rhythm of her heart
I touched nothing around me
but remembered her feelings
I listened but my ears heard nothing
I walked in the darkness without light
I took the path towards love
The sunrise lit my way
I breathed in her spirit
syncronized our hearts
reached out for her
And I heard her sigh

Fallow Deer
The fallow deer lay frozen in the woods
I saw it just past the fletcher farm
over the little bridge that makes the black ice
there where the dandelions come pushing in spring
off near the treeline stood its mate
watching hoping I pondered
I planned to take the children there
just to say a few words but thought not now
maybe when they have grown
then when they lose someone I can
bring them here and show them this place and tell
them how cold it was and how there wasnt
anything I could do
maybe then they will see
maybe
there is nothing they could have done either
