My World
Is daybreak the best time to view my world?
The suns splendour bathing natures wonder
In light so lovely it could stop my heart.
Lifting the shadows of the night gone by
Or morning when the same sun creeps up high,
Lifting the mists and drying the damp grass
So I can sink my toes into green warmth,
A purely sensual experience.
Afternoon heat brings the scent of roses
Fresh cut lawns,sage,spearmint and lavender
Assailing my nostrils with perfumed bliss.
Surely the best time of the day bar none.
Honeysuckle,sweet and heady crawls in
And fills my head with perfume, pure and light
But only in the evening as the sun
Sinks low in the sky over my small world
Leaving me with night, here in my garden.

TRUE LOVE
Once upon a time as all good stories go
Man met woman and put on quite a show,
He showed her love and showered her with stuff
then they got married and man said "enough".

She washed his socks,
though they smelled like a bear,
His underpants too cos she really did care
She fried for him daily while he sat on the sofa,
Drinking beer like a professional loafer.

Man clutched his chest one day
And dropped down dead.
Woman was distraught and sadly hung her head
Along came insurance man with policy supreme
Woman lives in Spain now, her villa's a dream.

JOY TO THE WORLD

Deck the halls in paganism,
Holly, ivy, mistletoe brought indoors,
Greenery, berries, fruits festooned
on walls, doors and fireplaces,
Winter festival has begun.
Jolly, padded bellies,
Red faced old men, children
on well worn laps, spewing hopes
of gifts for the Santa to bestow.
Jaded mum, promising Barbie
to willful Brittney who's been good all year.
Store managers, grinning broadly, profits,
cash in tills, gleeful.
Husbands, searching for elusive gifts
for a sexy wife, nothing but the best will do.
Jostling bodies, screaming kids, all with an ultimate goal.
Christmas morning.
Day dawns amid good wishes, salutations.
All well meant at the time,
Hopes that Granny wont pee in the chair this year,
Keep embarrassing Uncle Frank away from the drinks
at least til after lunch.
Children, drowning in torn wrapping paper, crying,
Forgotten batteries again!
Surviving the day, nerves almost intact,
Food uneaten, chocolate melting near fire's embers'
Mess left for tomorrow.
Tired bodies, steep stairs, weary legs,
Good wishes forgotten, blissful sleep, oblivion.
And the babe? Gods only child? yes, he was there
In cute songs and greeting cards.
