FRIGHTENED TO FIND

And so they flood my mind
thoughts and images
memories I suppose
for you are no longer there

I imagine you now
all past teen and twenty years
children reared and gone
creeping past middle age
and love for their father

have we affinity?
born in bygone years
do you like I wonder
what might have been?

thirty years have seen
days and months
run by and gone
feelings thoughts desires
millions and more

times past I had
a wish to see you
well and wonderously happy
and yet I never will
frightened to find
love that was lost

THE TOUCH

Never before
the warm smoothness
of touching hands

never orchestrated
nor planned
but good

the risk of flesh
the feel the need
the wish the warmth

to touch again
the thought burned
and thrilled
minds to explore.

BEYOND THE FINAL SHADOW

And so I have come
it is a duty and my will
she would have wanted it
strong the belief
there was something
after the grip of death

she would have wanted
me to bring flowers
and look at her deep
below my father
with daughter displaced
reluctant to one side

I cannot weep nor cry
for they are nothing
but moldering silent selves
wandering somewhere
beyond the final shadow
embracing their God
who has deserted me.
