Hints n tips
This page is for helpful hints and tips to be shared! I am only just starting in the Dub world so don't have too many tricks up my sleeve, but anyone else that can share anything that might be of some help to a fellow dubber can contact me and I will put it up on this page!
Laying the Rear wiper flat (mk2 golf)...
I wanted to do this mod for ages but was put off by complicated and confusing write ups in magazines. I finally had a look at the wiper motor and straight away saw how easy it would be!
- Firstly u need to open the boot and take off the plastic cover (on the hatch) that is held in with little plastic 'poppers'. Be a bit careful as these do POP out and may get lost!
- You will see the wiper motor on the left as you look from behind. from the centre of the motor is a 'short' arm that connects to a 'long' arm(which then connects to the wiper arm). Make sure the wiper arm is in its normal (stopped) possition (pointing up the glass).
- You now need to disconnect the 'long' arm from the 'short' *  !!REMEMBER WHICH WAY THE 'SHORT' ARM IS POINTING!! Once disconnected turn the 'short' arm exactly 180 degrees, so it is pointing opposite where it was.
-Move the wiper arm so it is laying at the bottom of the glass, now the 'long' arm should connect back to the 'short' arm easily! Make sure everything is attached well and try the rear wiper, it SHOULD be working correctly but starting from the bottom of the glass then up to its 'erect' (oo-er) possition! If it isn't sitting perfectly at the bottom you can undo the wiper arm itself and just lower it slightly more (should only be at most 1.5 cm)

* Disconnecting the 'short' and 'long' arm just takes a bit of gentle (but FIRM) prising/levering with a flat ended screwdriver (I didn't want to force it either but dont worry!)

Hot air intake (mk2 golf carb.)...
If you need to replace your hot air intake pipe, which is the piping coming from the left side bottom of the engine up to a junction box (where the piping meets) which goes  to the carb, don't spend your hard earned on cr@ppy aluminium ducting which is sold as 'ducting pipe'. Instead buy some Beetle (old/classic) air/vacuum piping! This comes in a length that will last you at least 3 times of replacing it and it is much cheaper! This stuff is also stronger (in my opinion) and is the perfect size!!
