Lt Philip Green, 30, was the pilot of Red Rat 35. He
was born in North Walsham, Norfolk on 26th July 1972 and is the son of Richard and Karen. Philip
had an elder sister, Juliet, and a younger sister, Catherine. He is loved and
missed by all especially for his gentle, wry humour, his sense of the
ridiculous and his smile.

Philip's loss has been
felt most particularly by his girlfriend, Louise Cameron, of Coylton Ayrshire
and, of course her family. Philip loved Scotland and spent many happy times
there.

Philip attended Carres
Grammar School in Sleaford, Lincs. He had many friends from this period with
whom he always kept in touch and tried to meet up with when visiting the
family home. Philip began flying training with the Oxford University Air
Squadron and subsequently won a flying award with Squires Aviation before he
joined the Royal Navy. Prior
to joining 849 Philip flew the Sea King helicopter with both 810 and 819 Naval
Air Squadron in the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Role. He served in many areas
gaining a wide and varied flying experience and achieved green rating status –
the highest possible accolade within the Navy
In October 2002 Philip
became the proud uncle of Ethan, the first child of Juliet and Kevin. Philip was to
have been Ethan's godfather: sadly he died before he could take on the role
which he had been honoured to be asked to perform.
The remaining member
of the family to miss Philip is Sam, the family's beloved Springer Spaniel. When at home Philip loved
to walk our family dog, Sam, on Caythorpe Heath. Sam's excitement was unbounded
when Philip put on his walking boots and it is hard to say which of the two
enjoyed these "boy's walks" the most.
