Below is a cross-sectional plan of the council's proposed combined retaining wall /walkway that will protect the Naze Tower and property behind it in Old Hall Lane - including the site of the LIVING NAZE project -  from dangers of coastal land loss due to the eroding Cliffs (video). The walkway will form the basis of CRAG WALK Heritage Project - a joint charity /council cooperative venture.

Phased Construction:
This blueprint shows how the revetment will 'bend' to the line of the retreating cliff edge. The dotted lines show 'top' and 'toe' recession positions now - and at the 25 & 100 year intervals of planned phases of construction. The green line indicates the extent of the current unprotected length of cliff face. (Erosion Study Notes)

information...
The picture shows the sea state in a nor'easterly gale. Although named after the Naze Tower, the sea defence itself has been constructed 100 metres too far south of the position of the 287-year-old grade 2* listed Tower to be of any effectiveness. The Naze Tower foundations are now barely 47 metres from the cliff edge and the Council's phased extension construction plans will be essential in securing the historic sea-mark's future.
