Scottish Musician - Neil Paterson. Traditional Scottish Music from Perth and Kinross, Fife, Tayside, Dundee and beyond.
What he does
Neil is from Milnathort and plays Highland bagpipes, Smallpipes, Guitar, Low whistle, Whistle and Bazouki.  He also sings when he has to and has been a regular performer at the Auchtermuchty festival, as well as the local 'Milnathort ceilidh weekend'.  He has guested at several other festivals, including - Kirriemuir, Orkney, the National folk festival (Scotland & England) & Shetland accordion and fiddle festival, as part of the Orwell Ceilidh Band.

Background
Neil has been recorded on albums for Gaberlunzie, Tich Frier, Sheena Wellington, John Watt, Colin Ramage, Paddyrasta, Ewen Sutherland and Jack Beck as well as many others .  He is currently a member of the 'Orwell Ceilidh Band' (named after the local parish of Orwell which has the village of Milnathort within its boundaries)

Most recently, Neil has started working with Bob Stewart  in 'What's a' the Steer?' - a duo which plays Scottish Folk Music and songs.

Neil also plays as part of a duo (called The Riggin) with an excellent young fiddler called Karen Hannah. (pictured above with Neil) Neil & Karen made up  a quartet called 'Randan' along with Tom Roche and Brian Cromarty, which performed at the recent Wallonian Festival in Belgium. They also made radio and television appearances during this festival. More recently, Randan performed at the Caird Hall in Dundee as support to Blazin' Fiddles.

Neil and accordionist, Gail Paterson, (also from the Orwell Ceilidh Band) performed live at the Rothes Halls for an edition of Radio Scotland's 'Take the Floor'.

Neil is a member of the Tich Frier Band which gets together from time to time. Tich is one of Scotland's finest Folk singers!

In addition to this, Neil occasionally plays in a duo with highly respected folk singer,
Colin Ramage. Colin is also a very fine songwriter who has recorded some of his own work on his last Cd 'Scotland's Secret'.
Neil also teaches Pipes and whistle at various workshops.
