Just thought I'd comment on the Trafalgar Square job.
is either Zimbabwe or SA,not sure.
I only have one tatty and signed cutting but am sure that original
photos could be obtained through the press.
We spent a weekend purchasing "Teepol" industrial detergent
in different locations (including Banbury!) so as not to appear
suspicious (what paranoia!). Travelled in Bob Watson's
Jowett Javelin for that and the actual placing of said substance.
I think the car was actually the original from the Motor show and,
for some strange reason remember the last 3 letters as WPU....
very sad!
We had reckoned,in terms of quantity of detergent, without the
fact that the water in the fountain was recycled, hence the dramatic
effect with large soap formations drifting over the city! The headline
was "The day Nelson got soap in his eye"
We were stopped by the Police during the course of the deed who
were suitably unimpressed and told us to get on with it! Just who
was weak enough to admit the plot I do not recall!
The door to the "Javelin" open at high speed going through a tunnel
and,as it opened "the wrong way",acted as an air brake, bouncing us
off the tunnel wall.
Never mind the dents, job done and what a shock to go in (me on the
back of Pete Bray's illegal motorbike) and see the effect next a.m!
Watching the LCC workman trying to pull the plug was most amusing.
I think the 98th had put potassium permanganate in the previous year
so at least we did a good cleaning job!
Georges Brown.
