Looking north, it's easy to see just how vulnerable to the power of the sea low-lying areas are - with the ever-present threat of tidal and storm flooding
The car park used to be located to the right of the Tower - but the original access road now ends abruptly at the cliff  face
Looking southwest, the lagoon in the foreground is now threatened by inundation during periods of high spring tides - the sea wall behind it is already starting to crumble...
A thin line of sunken barges protects the northeast corner of Horsey Island, in the Backwaters, but Stone Point - at the top of the Naze - remains desperately vulnerable to storm surge
