Hammant Family
Researching the Hammant family tree has proved difficult. So far I have managed to obtain some information from the 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, and 1901 census details. It appears that my particular Hammant family lived and worked in the Bermondsey area of London, in the area of the Leather Market. Most of the residents in this area either worked in the Leather trade, or on the Docks as Water Men.
So far I have managed to confirm the following.
Birth of JOSEPH HAMMANT on 8th May 1865, at 10 Kirby Street, Bermondsey.
Father - THOMAS HAMMANT - Leather finisher/journeyman.
Mother - ANN NEWMAN BURN
Marriage of JOSEPH HAMMANT to ROSALINDA ELIZABETH WEHRLE formerly HARRISON on 11th August 1886
Birth of JOSEPH ALEXANDER HAMMANT on 17th March 1889 at 71 Blake's Road, Bermondsey.
Father -JOSEPH HAMMANT - Hairdresser
Mother - ROSALINDA ELIZABETH HAMMANT formerly HARRISON
Marriage of JOSEPH ALEXANDER HAMMANT to ROSE EMMA FRANCES SLADE on September 7th 1913

The 1881 census proved difficult to search as the name HAMMANT had been written down as HAMMOND - but it does show that the Father in law living with the Holmes family was also the father of Thomas Hammant.

Place of death - North Middlesex County Hospital
Usual residence - 28 Hardcastle Street, Peckham.
Cause of death - 1.a. Uraemia - 1.b. Ascending Urinary Infection - 1.c. Adenoma of Prostate.
Informant - W. Goldsworthy - Son in Law, of 77 Ainslie Wood Gardens, South Chingford, Essex.
