On match days and at festivals the fee is £1.00 mini, mod, older age groups are £2.00 Older age group subs are dependent on Kit washing fees and referee fees.
On match days, as a team, we attend home and away club houses for refreshments after the game. For home fixtures we attend The Red Herring Public House in Coppull.
CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE On behalf of the Chorley Panthers I would like to welcome you to our club were the children are taught all the basic rugby league skills by qualified coaches. Each child is treated as an individual and therefore their own level of confidence, enjoyment, play, and experience are closely monitored and nurtured. As volunteers, Chorley Panther coaches try their very best to help the children to play and enjoy rugby league, they take their commitment to the children seriously.
The club has been looking to have a home of it’s own with suitable pitches, changing facilities and club house. This commitment to a permanent home has now been realised, and achieved by the coaches, commitee members and parents of our club.
We have recently signed a lease with the Lancashire County Council which guarantees us use of the Chisnall Playing Fields for the next 21 years. This now allows us to make a bid to Sport England for funding to build the club house etc.
The Government has changed it's philosophy and reinstated sport on the political agenda. We as a club should capitalise on this change in attitude and offer our children what they need most, team spirit, fresh air, exercise and an alternative to Playstation or Game Boy.

What's happening! and Results
Weekend 13th/14th September UNDER NINES - Clock Face 22 Chorley Panthers 28 UNDER TEN'S Chorley Panthers 0 v Leigh Miners Rangers U10 30
UNDER ELEVEN'S - Blackbrook Royals 26 Chorley Panthers conversion came from Dominic Nolan. With 10 mins to go Chorley's stamina faded in the heat and Blackbrook poured on the pressure to score 3 try's. Chorley's first game in the premier division went well and a vast amount of knowledge will be taken forward to there next game at home to Thatto Heath.
UNDER THIRTEEN'S - FOLLY LANE 52 CHORLEY PANTHERS 0 An absolute disaster! A depleted chorley squad travelled to Swinton and struggled against a much stronger opposition. Their were some brave performances however, from Mike Dale, Alex Trumper and Josh Charnley. The second half saw the flood gates open as the Chorley side tired. They will be looking for a much improved performance next week when they entertain Pilkington Rec at Chisnall (Panther) Park.
UNDER THIRTEEN GIRLS -Chorley Panthers U13 18 v Pendle Panthers U13 34 Pendle started off very strong, running in four trys before the Panthers hit their stride. Ruse, Oxley and Wareing drove the ball well and a tiring Pendle began to give penalties away. Good work in defence from Blundell and McNally could not alter the scoreline. The Panthers won the second half with a great comeback performance. Trys: Wareing, Ibbison, Ruse (2). Conversion: McNally
UNDER FOURTEEN - Chorley Panthers 19 Vs Leigh Miner Rangers 20 After a blistering start, Chorley held a 9-point lead and looked to be in control of the game. Chorley's first try came from some good work between the forwards and the three quarters, resulting in a try for Michael Nicholls. A further try by Blundell and a drop goal by loose forward Ellis gave Chorley the early initiative. At this point Chorley's' ill discipline started to cost them dear. Penalties enabled Leigh to get back in the game and go into the half time break with a slim lead. The second half continued where the first had left off. More penalties resulted in Leigh having a 20 - 9 lead. It was then that the Panthers started to produce the rugby that they are capable of. Tries from Ellis and Farrington got Chorley back into the game. With the score at 19 - 20, to Leigh, Chorley where looking for that final score. However time was not on their side and Leigh held on to take the game. Chorley must now pick up their wounded pride for next weekends tough journey to Wigan St Jude's.
The Open Age put on a wonderful display of rugby, with three debutants taking to the field. The match was won against a tired Accrington side
Results Week Ending 27/28th September 2003
Under 8's Chorley Panthers 4 Wigan St Jude's 4 A great honor for the youngsters this week as this fixture was played at the halftime interval of the epic at the JJB stadium on Friday evening. While Wigan were coping with going in at the break losing, the chorley youngsters had a brilliant time. A great display in defence and attack with both sides showing courage and skill. A real future for the club was evident in this display.
Under 9's Latchford 20 Panthers 20 A tremendous first half performance saw the panthers sail convincingly into a 16 points to four interval lead. superb attacking play had resulted in tries from Ben Parry, Chris Carr, Josh Swindells and Alex Bridge. The latter after some tremendous attacking play which saw the ball moving through every pair of panthers hands. Then what could only then be described as the proverbial game of two halves saw the panthers sit back on their lead instead of forcing home there superiority. Panthers only score in the second half came from a superb individual effort from player of the match Eleanor Trumper. Best effort award for some excellent drives went to Elliot Lythgoe and top tackler was Chris Carr.
Under 10's Chorley Panthers U10's 0 Pilkington Recs 24 An excellent start from the Panthers, who worked well in attack, caught Pilks napping. Great defensive play, keeping Pilks camped on their own try line, proved too hard for the team to keep up throughout the game. The Panthers went into the break 6 - 0 down. A loss of focus during the second half proved harsh as Pilks ran in their second half try's. MOM Charles Walker
Under 11's Saddleworth Rangers 34 Chorley Panthers 4 Chorley played some great rugby in this display, showing great skills in defence and attack, being denied time and again on the line by a superb rangers defence. Man of the match Ryan Harrison was fearless going in strong and hard while top tackler Matthew Wilkie held off the attackers, along with most improved Scott Pritchard. Lydia Nolan, Lee Holt and Samuel Stent also deserve special mention for outstanding effort. Simple handling errors led to this defeat with the homeside capitalising on every mistake.
Under 13's Ince Rose Bridge 10 v Chorley Panthers 26 This was rugby league at it's best as the Chorley side gave their Wigan hosts a lesson in moving the ball out wide. Winger Paul Jones went over in the corner early on and this was followed by a mid range effort from centre Mike Dale. Josh Charnley was next over the whitewash before loose Alex Trumper went over in the corner. Then Jones finished off with two more typical 'wingers' tries as the Panthers back line mesmerised Rose Bridge with their handling skills. None of this would have happened without the platform built by the forwards and special mention must go to the front row of Matthew Sewell, Nick Buckley and Anthony Monks.
Under 14's Chorley Panthers 20 Blackbrook Royals 20 Chorley gave Blackbrook an early wake up call when Tom Smith crashed over the line for Chorley's first try. Another quickly followed this when Nichols thundered over. Quick thinking from Ellis and Smith produced two-drop goals before Blackbrook had time to reply. Daniel Lenz was magnificent in defence whilst scrum half Thomas proved he was a match for anyone. Chorley took the lead again when a fantastic pass out from Nichols saw Catterall touch down in the corner. A lapse in concentration from the Panthers let Blackbrook scoot two late tries to even up a tremendous match.
Chorley Panthers Girls U14's 0 v Pendle Panthers Girls U14's 10 The Chorley Panthers played skilfully with the ball, taking the game to Pendle. A good solid defence with Oxley, Watts, Mayren and Ward taking on the Pendle forwards, won the first half. The ball went through sets of hands but Chorley were unable to finish their sets of six. Clarkson proved herself with one-on-one work, Blundell, Wareing, Rostron and Ruse worked hard driving the ball, neat footwork from Ibbison, Hudson and Dean could not penetrate. Two penalties provided Pendle with their try scoring opportunities. Another superb effort from this fledgling side.
Full Round-up 05.10.03
Panthers U 7's 44 West Bank Bears U7's 28 The all new Panther's team could not have impressed the crowd anymore. This exciting game between two new sets of young guns was excellent to watch. 5 tries from Nathan Blamire, 4 from Harry Swarbrick and one each for Adam Jones and Joshua Blacklidge got the PantherS on their way to a first win. Panthers U8's 32 Ince Rose Bridge U8's 28 Panthers first game of the season saw a hard fought game go the way of the home team. 3 Tries from Cameron Boulter and two each for Jack Swarbrick and David Thompson ensured that an excellent team performance edged past Ince Rose Bridge. Man of the Match was Harry Bowers. Panther U9's 20 Leigh Miners Rangers U9's 12 A hard fought game which called for the commitment and determination for the full duration of the game saw the Panthers maintain their unbeaten start to the 2003 campaign. The second half saw the Panthers producing some superb rugby with further scores from Ben Parry, Joseph Maden and Chris Carr. Chorley Panthers U10's 14 v Leigh East U10's 18 Chorley controlled the game from the offset, when quality passing from the backs and powerful drives from forwards put Heyes over and then Crawford. Leigh East size contributed to their win, but the Panthers skill showed through and a full length hike from Heyes put him over for his second. Lucas and Mayson-Cooper showed expertise in their tackling, with Walker nailing Leigh East at every opportunity. The only conversion was made by Crawford. Chorley Panthers U11s 12 Oldham St Anne’s U11s 24 Chorley started slowly letting a try in on Oldham’s first set of six tackles. Good ball handling from Ryan Berry, Danny Robinson, Connor Howard sent Lee Holt in at the corner, Greg West kicked the conversion. Chorley’s defence was in top form with top tackler Glen Finch leading the way. Chorley were camped on there own line for the rest of the half and the pressure from Oldham sent them in for 2 further try’s.The second half started well, with good driving from forward Scott Pritchard which set up a move for Chorley ending with a try for Sam Stent converted by Man of the Match Daniel McGrath. Chorley once again where held on their line withstanding the Oldham pressure, Thomas Maden, Mathew Wilkie & William Howlett worked well together and denied Oldham try after try with excellent defence. Chorley Panthers U12's 12 v Shevington Sharks U12's 26 Panthers played well at times but mistakes cost dearly. Jack Bury worked well in defense with tries from Matthew Whittle and Stuart Mclean (2). Man of The match - Conor Ellison Chorley Panthers U13s 4 v Hindley U13s 10 A dreadful start cost the Panthers as the home team failed to complete a set in the first ten minutes regularly turning the ball over to their opponents. Josh Charnley went over for Chorley and there was some solid performances from Nick Buckley and Alex Trumper up front. The best of the backs were Mike Dale and Jordan Smith but the Panthers are kicking themselves because this was one they should have won. Chorley Panthers U13's Girl's 44 v Huddersfield Sharks U13’s Girl's 0 Oxley opened the try scoring with a strong drive. Wareing and Blundell (3) put the Panthers ahead going into the break. A great all round performance from Mayren winning Man of the Match. An outstanding defence held Huddersfield in their own half for the whole of the second half of play. Further trys came from Ibbison, Ruse (2) and McNally. McNally converted four. Wigan St Patricks U14s 18 Chorley Panthers U14s 35 Chorley got off to a flying start when a quick pass out from Slater saw Smith cross the line. A nippy turn in direction from Nicholls saw Blundell in for Chorley's second try. Some lapses in concentration and discipline brought Pats back into the game but some awesome running and defence from Lucas and Ellis brought a brace of tries for each of them. Hooker Robinson put in some tireless running and Full Back Baines proved a constant threat. This match also marked a welcome return for Scot Atkins who suffered a broken leg last season. Chorley Panthers U15’s 58 Shevington Sharks U15’s 6 Another fantastic result for an on form Chorley outfit. From the first whistle Chorley piled on the pressure with Shaun Taylor and Danny Dean powering through the Shevington defence. Michael Hilton, Lee Hiez and Shane Saunt all made impressions on the score line. Ryan Woods scored in the corner from a good passing move which went though 5 sets of hands. Half backs Anthony McMullen and Graham Davies ran the show for Chorley and set try’s up for Jamie Gillespie, Mark Rostrum and Adam Mayren. Chorley are now 2 from 2 and are looking to the next game at Leyland to go top of the North West Counties division 2 league.
Weekend 11/12th October 2003 Girls U14's Chorley Panthers Girl's 4 v Hillside Hawks Girl's 20 Chorley Panthers Girl's 8 v Stanningley Girl's 22 In their first game, the Panthers only switched on after the first ten minutes. Hillside by then had scored two try's. There was some great defending and some poor but the Panthers held up a much stronger and bigger Hillside for most part of the game. Then a challenge from Stanningley was mounted, with the Panthers once again not switching on. Some excellent plays from the forwards could not help the Panthers to a win. The two games were very physical and but Chorley played with lots of heart. Player of the Matches were Natasha Ruse and Hannah Oxley respectively.
Under 13's Widnes Moorfield 54 v Panthers 0 For the second time this season the Panthers U13 team laid down and surrendered to bigger opposition before the match kicked off. There was some good to come out of the match with brave performances from Alex Trumper, Josh Charnley and Man of the Match Mike Dale. There was also a debut for Ricky Knight but the Chorley team will have to work a lot harder when they entertain Leigh East at 'Panther Park' next Sunday.
Under 14's Chorley Panthers 0 Crosfields 7 This game was Chorley's for the taking. An extremely close match between two strong teams. The score line was 0 - 0 at half time. Yet again lack of discipline and giving away penalties cost the Chorley outfit points they should have won. On a positive note Mitchell's tackling was outstanding whilst Paul Smith and Catterall's sturdy running are causing problems for the opposition.
Under 10's Chorley Panthers U10 12 v Widnes Moorfield U10 12 The Panthers led the game with Heyes scoring his first try. Scowcroft, Mayson-Cooper and Walker worked hard to advance up the field. Good defensive work from Battersby, Dale and McNamara, with Ibbison, Crawford and Lucas putting in some good attacking moves. Jones put in a superb cross-field kick to Crawford, who slipped the ball to Fishwick, the try was ruled out due to a forward pass. Moorfield went ahead but in the dying seconds another great attacking move saw Heyes over again in the corner. Conversions: Heyes, Crawford
Under 11's Latchford Albion 24 Chorley Panthers 6 An exciting match which saw Chorley held on the line over and over again. The first quarter saw the Panthers hold the score line intact while the Warrington players bombarded the defence with excellent play. A lapse in concentration and sloppy tackling saw the home side pop three quick try's over in succession before team play saw top tackler Lee Holt go over for the visitors. A better effort in the second period holding latchford to just one score. Man of the match Daniel McGrath and Most improved Samuel Stent had excellent games. While Connor Howard, Matthew Wilkie and Glen Finch stood out in the defence.
Under 12's Saddleworth Ranger 30 v Chorley Panthers 0 A lack lustre performance left Chorley lacking in all areas. Maybe it was the journey or the altitude but the forwards just couldn't hold the attacking homeside. Gaps and unorganised play was the downfall. Pluses can be taken from the tries the Chorley players kept from going over as Saddleworth took control of the day.
Round-up 18th/19th October 2003 Under 7's(Played 11.10.03.) Wigan St Cuthbert's 36 Chorley Panthers 52 ALL the Panthers again showed great determination against a well-organised St. Cuthbert's team. Superb individual tries from Man of the Match Adam Jones with 5, Connor Baxter with 4 and additional tries from Joshua Blacklidge and others ensured that Panthers came out on top again. Under 7's Chorley Panthers 48 Widnes Moorefield 48 Chorley showed some excellent skill in only their 3rd game of the season. The game was full of excellent tries from both teams, with Man of the Match; Harry Swarbrick scoring 7, Joshua Blacklidge with 2 and excellent tries from Harry Melling, Connor Baxter and Nathan Blamire making this a deserved draw Under 8's Chorley Panthers 16 - Leigh M.R 8 This was certainly a game of two halves. A tough team talk at the half way stage of this match boosted the Panthers to come back from a being one try down to score 4 try's after the break. Man of the Match performance came from David Thompson with one try, another from Top Tackler Cameron Boulter and the balance made up from Harry Swarbrick and brother Jack. Under 10's Chorley Panthers 22 v Ince Rosebridge 34 An outstanding Panthers saw them leading for two thirds of the game. Hard working hooker McNamara was never missing as the forwards worked their socks, and their boots off. Mayson-Cooper and Lucas took some hard hits but remained focused. An awesome kicking game from Heyes opened Rosebridge up and the first try came from a cross-field kick for Jones (2) to pounce on. Drives from Squires and Scowcroft put the Panthers up the field. Crawford dazzled with his nifty footwork and great denfense. Dale and Walker put the tackles in, putting Rosebridge into touch on a number of occasions. Man of the Match Ibbison (2) showing skill throughout, put a cheeky grubber through, as the ball hit the legs of a Rosebridge player, Ibbison scooped it up and scored his second try. A tiring Panthers were down to ten men as a brave Lucas was taken off. Rosebridge then took the lead with two trys in quick succession. A magical display of Junior rugby league. Conversions: Heyes, Crawford, Ibbison Under 11's Chorley Panthers 0 Portico Panthers 30 The game only started for Chorley in the second half, when they woke up and decided they could play rugby against a bigger and more aggressive Portico. By then the game was out of reach going in at the half 24 - 0 down. Man of the match Glen Finch was awesome in attack and with top tackler Dominic Nolan leading the way to a close second half. Most improved player Connor Howard went close to the Portico line with good drives up field. Lee Holt, Danny McGrath and Daniel Robinson all showed good skill on the ball. Thomas Maden, Will Howllett, Scott Pritchard worked well in defence to halt the Portico onslaught But for Chorley it was all too little too late. Under 12's 1st Round Lancashire Cup Eccles/Salford Juniors 18v Chorley Panthers 16 A greatly improved performance by each and every member of the team with good work from the forwards Jack Bury and Conor Ellison. Top Tackler was Tom Holden. A hat-trick of tries from Stuart Mclean and conversion by Robert Sanderson. Under 13's Girls Chorley Panthers Girls U13 8 v Pendle Panthers Girls U13 22 Chorley caught Pendle on the hop with a thrilling opening set of six. Ruse was taken down just short of the line and Pendle took the ball. For a time Pendle were in full control but Chorley started to settle and Wareing and Rostron began to shut them down with some aggressive tackling. Blundell, Watts and Oxley worked hard allowing Chorley to camp on Pendles try line. In a tennis game of a match Chorley suddenly turned it on and Clarkson went for a hike up the field scoring the first try. Mayren, Dean and McNally put on a good display in both attack and defence. Player of the Match Ibbison scooted, dodged and weaved herself onto the scoreboard. Hudson's and Hilton's one-on-one tackling proved invaluable as the whole squad dug deep. The drive came to late and Pendle had already scored their trys. Well done to this emerging side. Under 14's Lancashire Cup 1st round Wigan St Jude's 18 Chorley Panthers 22 After a blistering start the Panthers were 18 nil up at half time. After the break Wigan St Judes came back to level the game 18-18 which made for a very tight finish. Judes would have taken the lead but for a superb match winning tackle in the dying minutes from Atkins. Panthers hung on to clinch the game 22-18 to progress to the next round of the Lancashire Cup. Credit must go to both teams in a game that would befit any final. Tries came from Blundell, Nicholls, Lucas and Smith (2). Under 15's Leigh East 44 v Chorley Panthers 10 This was always going to be a tough fixture for the under strength Panthers team. They started well enough with a massive effort from full back Shaun Taylor who starred both in attack and defence together with Michael Hilton and Danny Dean. As they turned around, the floodgates could have opened but the visitors showed great character in the second half with a brave effort from Mark Rostron and a superb all round display from Man of the Match Graham Davies.
Round Up 25th/26th October Under 8's Haydock 56 Chorley Panthers 28 The Panthers suffered a first half rush of tries from a well organised Haydock team. The second half was a great improvement with Cameron Boulter 3, Man of the Match Alex Sharples scoring 2 and a try a piece from Harry and Jack Swarbrick, which showed Haydock what the Panthers could have done in the first half. Some excellent tackling from Top Tackler Jason Smith ensured that it was Panthers won the second half display, but unfortunately not the match.
Under 9's Wigan St. Pats 8 Chorley Panthers 36 Injuries and holidays meant that the squad was reduced to only seven regulars but this did not deter the remaining magnificent seven from maintaining their unbeaten record with every member of the squad getting onto the score sheet. The result was never in any doubt from the first ten minutes. The actual scorers were Josh Swindells 2, Alex Bridge 2, Chris Carr, Eleanor Trumper, Elliot Lythgoe, Joseph Maden and Thomas Flanagan. Man of the Match was Chris Carr with the Top Tackler award going to Alex Bridge and Josh Swindells collecting the best effort award. Under 11's Hindley 24 Chorley Panthers 4 The score line did not reflect the effort the Panthers put into this game. Most improved player Greg West played a major part in Chorley’s game with Top Tackler Glen Finch leading from the front. Good work from acting half Lee Holt, which sent Lee in for a try. Good ball handling from Sam Stent, Thomas Maden sent Lydia Nolan on a 50 yard elusive run, to be caught just short of the line. Dominic Nolan, Mathew Wilkie and Will Howlet never stopped working on the Hindley defence with drive after drive, but with no substitutes Chorley ran out of gas near the end and Hindley’s town team players just made the difference.
Under12's CHORLEY PANTHERS 14 V SPOTLAND RANGERS 16 A mediocore first half display, but Chorley dug deep to come back from 16 down at half time. Hard driving from the forwards with good work from Wes Cheetham ensured Chorley dominated the second half. Tries from Jack Bury and Conor Ellison (2) with a conversion from top tackler Robert Sanderson. Man of the Match Jack Bury. Under 13's Portico 46 v Chorley Panthers 10 Despite the result this wasn't a bad performance from the Panthers. In the second half a superb move saw Sam McNally latch onto a Josh Charnley chip kick to send him over for the try of the match

Conversions: McNally
Week Ending 02.11.03
Under 8's Chorley Panthers 28 - Rochdale Mayfield 0 Rochdale showed good spirit as they struggled to contain a Panthers team set on returning to winning ways. Man of the Match, Luke Robinson, showed some excellent running in rainy conditions which encouraged the rest of the team to do the same. Some superb individual tries from Cameron Boulter,Alex Sharples, Harry and Jack Swarbrick, David Thompson, Harry Bowers and Tom Sharp.
Under 9's Ashton Bears 8 Chorley Panthers 4 The panthers lost their unbeaten league record but not without the bravest of efforts from every player on the panthers side. In poor conditions defenses where very much in command for the majority of the game. Panthers trailed by one try at the interval but the scores could have been so diffferent with the panthers getting stopped on the line on more than one occassion. After the break panthers hit back immediatly after the restart with a superb solo effort from Jason Booth. Time and time again panthers where stopped from scoring with last gasp tackles. The score remained equal until the last five minutes when one lapse in concentration gifted the opponents the winning try. Man of the match for panthers was Thomas Barrow whose courageous drives constantly troubled the Ashton defense and top tackler award went to Jason booth for some copybook tackles and the best effort award was given to the whole team.
Under 10's Chorley Panthers 38 v Latchford Albion 26 On a rainy day Latchford took an early lead, but Chorley dug deep and responded with a try from Walker (2). The Chorley defence held strong with Mayson-Cooper, Squires and Sharratt putting in some hard hits. Great running from Lucas and Fishwick got the ball up the field, which allowed Ibbison (2) to scoot over for his first try. Latchford managed to pull trys back, but Chorley kept up the pressure and Crawford (2) took a well-timed cross-field kick from Heyes (1). The rain let off for the second half and Chorley scored from the kick-off with some skilful passing through the hands of Jones, Dale and McNamara. A special mention goes to Josh Ronfell who, playing his first game, showed great promise and grew in confidence as the game progressed. Conversions: Ibbison Crawford, Heyes.
Under 11's Chorley Panthers 0 Ryland Sharks 30 A well thought out game with excellent individual performances throughout the team, Man of the match Matthew Wilkie gained ground in attack and was formidable in the defence. Top Tackler Glen Finch was relentless along with Most Improved Dominic Nolan. Thomas maden was unlucky on two occations being held up on the line along with lee Holt who was also wrapped up. Quick thinking from Connor Howard kept the onslaught down kicking stray balls and falling on them to stop the momentum. Excellent runs from Samuel Stent and Ryan Harrison with Daniel McGrath also being kept quiet with the excellent defence from the Warrington team. Lydia Nolan, Greg West, Scott Pritchard and William Howlett all played their part tackling and driving the ball against a much superior side.
Under 12's Grappenall Giants 8 v Chorley Panthers 26 Excellent rugby throughout the match by the whole team, with solid defensive work and good ball handling skills in difficult conditions. Tries from Stuart Mclean, Joel Smith, with a hat-trick from Conor Ellison and a futher try and conversion from top tackler Robert Sanderson. Man of the match was Jack Bury.
Under 13's Chorley Panthers 12 Ryland Sharks 36 A patchy performance from the Chorley team saw them compete well for long periods, but after the loss of Bill Scarffe midway through the first half the Panthers took some time to re-adjust and defensive lapses gave the visitors too many scoring opportunities. Panthers points were scored by Josh Charnley with two good individual efforts.
Under 13's Girls Chorley Panthers Girls 18 v Huddersfield Sharks Girls 0 Huddersfield could not raise the numbers for the league fixture and some of the Chorley girls went over. Skill was shown throughout the game as the battle for points on the day held the actual score at 8 a-piece at the final whistle. Player of the match Laura Mayren shone in both attack and defence as she outplayed her own team mates. Two tries came from full-back Clarkson. Chorley and Huddersfield also met on the Sunday, as they represented Girls Rugby League, at half time of the final game of the New Zealand tour. Again the Chorley girls made up the Huddersfield squad and impressed the crowds with their style of rugby. The final score was settled with a try from Chorley's prop Natasha Ruse, who powered over at Leigh's Hilton Park.
Under 15's Hindley 32 Chorley Panthers 6 Chorley played against league leaders in a hard fought game. chorley went close through Danny Dean and Paul Holden but to no avail. Chorleys points came from Anthony McMullen latching on to a loose ball, kicking through and geting the try which was converted by Graham Davis. Top Tackler was Michael Hilton and man of the match Shaun Allen.
Week Ending 10.11.03 Under 8's Blackbrook 32 - Chorley Panthers 0 A tough display of tackling from ALL the Panthers was not quite enough to overcome this big, powerful and well organised team from Blackbrook. Under 11's Pilkington Rec's 34 Chorley Panthers 4 A great start from the Panthers who seemed to take the St Helens crew by surprise by taking first blood. A well weighted kick on the fifth from Ryan Harrison led to an excellent chase and drop on from Lydia Nolan. The homeside then woke up and started to play! A strong attacking force soon found the Panthers weak spots and exploited them, sending over eight unanswered tries. Dropped balls and missed tackles were running rampant and but for one or two, the score could have been a lot worse. Spaces were created but the centres chose to run the ball missing chance after chance. Man of the Match, Most Improved and Top Tackler award all went to Connor Howard which shows just where the improvement is needed before next weeks visit to Leigh East.

RESULTS Week Ending 16th November Under 15's Chorley Panthers 34 Widnes Moorfield 0 Chorley's performance this week was 100% better, against a fiery Widnes Moorfield who started the game with a lot of aggression. Commitment and an all-round good team performance. The forwards made the hard yards, driving the Widnes crew back which left it open wide for the half backs to control and take the points. Next week chorley are away to moss bank bulldogs.
Under 13's Chorley Panthers 0 v Folly Lane 30 Despite the scoreline this was an excellent performance from the Chorley side against the league leaders from Salford. Some great defence from Alex Trumper, Danny Singleton and Nick Buckley kept the visitors out for much of the game and it was only one or two lapses in concentration that let Folly in. Alex West and Matthew Sewell had big games up front and Jordan Smith continues to impress on the wing.
Under 12's Leigh East 30 Chorley Panthers 0 A short wide pitch gave the home team the advantage with their long kick-off strategy. Chorley were slow to tackle but wrapped up the players well when they did. Top tackler Taylor Bristow and a much more energetic Pathers side in the second half, prevented the very quick opposition increasing the scoreline.
Under 11's Leigh East 36 Chorley Panthers 6 Despite the scoreline the young panthers had a fantastic game and had the Leigh side worried well into the second period. A fantastic attacking force from Ryan Harrison, Glen Finch and man of the match Daniel McGrath got the ball right to the line on numerous occasions just missing out on the last. Lydia Nolan, Matthew Wilkie, and Scott Pritchard drove the ball well and got the positions for the centres to take their chances, A fantastic defensive effort led by top tackler Connor Howard, Thomas Maden, Samuel Stent and Lee Holt kept the driving attack from going over for more. Excellent team play from William Howlett Dominic Nolan and Most improved Greg West. Try - D McGrath and Goal - G West.
Chorley Panthers U10 7 v Thatto Heath U10 30 The score did not reflect the game as Chorley tried their very best to keep Thatto out. The only points came from Heyes who scored a lovely drop goal, then Ibbison scooted over for a try. Walker, Crawford and Fishwick tackled their hearts out. Man of the Match Dale and Mayson-Cooper lifted the side as they took the ball forward. Conversion: Ibbison
Under 9's Haydock 24 Chorley Panthers 28 Panthers had to dig deep in order to get back to winning ways against a very physical Haydock side. Panthers looked to be in control at the break leading by 16 points to 8 but within three minutes of the restart Haydock had levelled the scores. Panthers then called upon their wealth of experience to finally guide themselves to victory. Man of the Match was Ryan Greenfield and Best Effort Award went to Joseph Maden.
Under 8's Crossfields 28 Chorley Panthers 24 The Panthers were slow to start and had conceded 3 tries within 10 minutes before they managed a reply. Second half was a different story. Some excellent defence and skills from ALL the Panthers ensured that the team had drawn level with 6 tries each with only a minute to go. But the last run from Crossfields was too much for the Panthers defence therefore Crossfields clinched this win in the last minute. Jack Swarbrick MOM, Top Tackler Neil Wareing, Best Effort was Tom Sharp

Chorley Panthers 12's 6 vs Westhoughton Lions 36 A much improved performance from last week against a quick, higher division team. This friendly fixture showed great spirit and skills. The defence at times was outstanding and consequently limited the opponents ability to cross the line. Man of the match Joe Ainscough.
Chorley Panthers U10 18 v Waterhead U10 38 Chorley worked hard but Waterhead utilised the gaps and sent their fast lads through. Ronfell, Mayson-Cooper and Fishwick slowed the onslaught. The side came better as Crawford and Dale took the ball forward Improved tackling from Scowcroft and Squires halted the try scoring Waterhead. Panther trys came from Lucas who dived through in the corner for his first and took a great cross-field kick to put the ball down in the corner for his second and Man of the Match Ibbison who scooted to the line. Conversions: Lucas, Ibbison and Heyes.
Chorley Panthers Girls U13 22 v Huddersfield/Middleton U13 6 Chorley kicked off and stood to watch as their opposition ran in a try in the first 20 seconds. A shocked Chorley switched on and led by Ibbison they played a great game. The ball went through sets of hands and Blundell broke through for a try in the corner. Still behind, with a conversion missed, Wareing showed the ball and tore through for her try. Clarkson and Mayren dominated in defence allowing Chorley to win the ball back. Standoff and Player of the Match Hilton, dipped the shoulder, stepped and passed the ball out to McNally, who put the ball down under the sticks. A high tackle on hardworking Rostron put a penalty tap in the hands of Ruse and she powered over for a try. Watts drove the ball forward setting Bristow up for her try. An excellent game, against this Yorkshire side. Conversions: McNally
Chorley Panthers U9's 36 Langworthy Reds U9's 20 A fine all round team performance ended with the correct result for the panthers. From the onset the panthers took the game to the opposition and led comfortably for the vast majority of the game. Man of the match was Lewis Dale with some excellent defence and direct running, top tackler with some superb individual tackles was Ben Parry To their credit Langworthy never stopped working and got rewards for their efforts with three tries in the last five minutes too close the gap on the score sheet.
Pilkington Recs. U13's 56 v Chorley Panthers U13's 0 This was the worst performance of the season from the Panthers with the forwards being the main culprits in this woeful effort. Mike Dale, Danny Singleton, Victor Fuller, Nick Buckley and Josh Charnley all worked hard but to no avail against a powerful Pilkingtons outfit. This Sunday's crucial clash against Ince Rosebridge at Chisnall will decide who remains in the First Division but it now looks an uphill battle for the Chorley side.
Chorley Panthers U11's 0 Wigan St Pat's 30 The icy start was a put off for the Panthers as the Wigan outfit took control from the off. Chorley were poor in running through the sets of six and paid a heavy price. Encouraging performances from Matthew Wilkie, Greg West and Most improved Glen Finch, man of the match Ryan Harrison and top tackler Connor Howard worked hard to slow down the onslaught. Chances were created but to no avail. Pat's ran out worthy winners.
Results Week ending 12th January 2004 Under 11's Langworthy Red's 16 Chorley Panthers 20 Chorley deserved the points today and could easily have ended up with a bigger margin had the defence stuck in during the second period. Half time saw Chorley 8-0 up with some great skills on show from all the Panthers. Lydia Nolan, William Howlett and Matthew Wilkie drove and tackled hard with a massive defence from Daniel McGrath, Connor Howard and top tackler Samuel Stent. Most improved Scott Pritchard showed guts and determination. Greg West and Thomas Maden both made good breaks only to be stopped just shy. Man of the match Lee Holt had a massive game leading the play in the centre, Dominic Nolan and Ryan Berry kept down the onslaught in the second half when the salford crew woke up. A nail biting last five but the Panthers managed to hold out for the win.
Under 13's NWC challenge cup. 1st round Ashton Bears 20 v Chorley Panthers 10 A failure to control the ball in difficult conditions was the Panthers undoing in this first round cup tie. Josh Charnley put the visitors ahead when he found a gap and went the full length of the pitch for a blistering try but the Bears pulled two back to make it 12 v 6 at half time. The Chorley outfit then had a run of unforced errors as they continually turned the ball over to Ashton who went further ahead. Nick Buckley 'ghosted' through to score under the sticks but it was too late for the Panthers who take an early exit from the North West Counties Cup.
Under 15's NWC Challenge cup 1st round Chorley Panthers 2 Orrell St James 6 Todays cup epic could have gone either way with both teams starting strong from the off. With everything level at 2 each at half time With Michael Hilton kicking a penalty for the Panthers only points. Conditions were not the best but the lads put on a solid performance and only a lapse in the defense let in a sloppy try in the corner that sealed the Wigan sides win. man of the match was Shaun Allen.
Results 31.01.04 and 01.02.04 Under 14's LEIGH MINER RANGERS 6 Vs CHORLEY PANTHERS 16 This game was always going to be a tight affair. Chorley wanting to prove that they deserved a place in the National Cup and Leigh wanting to prove that they where the better of the 2 sides. In a game dominated by defence, it took most of the first half for the first score to come. A missed tackle by the Panthers defence allowed Leigh to run 50 metres for the first score. Chorley hit back with some awesome defence. This was the foundation for them to take control of the game. Patience in attack brought them their first score. Some good running by the forwards allowed Ellis in for a good try, his conversion brought the scores level. Defence dominated the game from this point and a clever kick on the 5th was superbly picked up by Blundell, who sprinted over to put Chorley in front.
The second half continued where the first finished. Some thunderous defence by both sides saw only one scoring opportunity. With the game finely balanced, Lucas broke down the right wing. When this lad gets going, he is virtually impossible to stop. Crashing over the line in the corner gave Ellis a difficult touch line conversion, but this was not a problem. With the score at 16 - 6 to Chorley, Leigh threw everything at the Panthers, but to no avail. Time ran out and Chorley came away with the 2 points. The whole team can be proud of this effort, they are now playing the kind of rugby that has become expected by every one. Perhaps the men in charge will now realise that there is a force outside of the usual channels when it comes to selecting teams for national competitions.
Under 12's Latchford Albion 14 vs Chorley Panthers 10 A good game, with the opposition capitalising on a few mistakes in an otherwise solid Panthers defence. A match full of hard drives, excellent attacking from first and second markers and breaks down field. Two tries from Robert Sanderson with a conversion from Jonathan Cox. Man of the Match - Conor Ellison
Under 13's Rylands 18 v Panthers 16 Another nail-biter for the Panthers who just missed out with the last kick of the match. After starting slowly the visitors went behind before David Barnes was put through a gap to make it 12 v 6 at the break. The Panthers dominated the second half with further scores from Danny Singleton and Bill Scarff but the final whistle came five minutes too early as the Warrington side tired. Alex West and Matthew Bell had big games up front with Mike Dale being the pick of the backs.
U13's Girls Chorley Panther Girls 10 v Pendle Panthers 22 Chorley gave Pendle a fright with a try in the first 30 seconds by full back, McNally. McNally converted but Pendle punished Chorley. Three trys came in quick succession as Chorley made mistakes. Oxley and Watts battered the Pendle line and it became a tennis match with the each side unable to finish sets of six. After the break a tired Chorley sat back and a poor defence allowed Pendle in again. Chorley played good rugby for a time and after Pendle gave away a penalty for crossing, Chorley's forwards Rostron and Ruse again drove the ball forward. Blundell made it to the line only to be held back, a quick play the ball and cheeky half back Ibbison dove through for her try. Mayren got over the line only to be forced to knock on.
U11 and U15 fixtures fell foul of the weather.

Under 7's Chorley Panthers 36 v Wigan St Cuthbert's 24 In a hard game on the return to the season for the youngsters the Chorely Panthers under 7's were in charge for much of the match. Excellent defence and some good drives forward made sure that Chorley took the points this time. Every player in the squad played a part in the win this week. Try scorers for the Panthers; Nathan Blaimiere (3) Connor Baxter (3) Adam Jones (2) and Harry Swarbrick.
Under 8's Chorley Panthers 32 v Shevington Sharks 16 Part 2 of the season got off to an excellent start for the Panthers. Panther's defence was very impressive and so was their attacking play. Man of the match, David Thompson scored with 5 tries, Cameron Boulter, Jack Swarbrick and Harry Bowers all crossing to make a good score line. Shevington fought back well in both half's but Panthers newcomers, George Burton and Mathew Shaw showed some excellent tackling and effort to help tame the Sharks.
Under 10's Mayfield 32 v Chorley Panthers 36 The Panthers were switched on from the beginning of the game. The ball went through sets of hands creating the overlap on a number of occasions. A pleasing debut for Wingeatt, who made good yards set the standard as Dale took the ball at pace and sliced through for his try. A neat pass from Heyes to Ibbison put him in for one of his trys. Lucas and Fishwick were putting Mayfield down with their superb tackling. Nifty footwork from Jones along with great support play and strong running from Scowcroft and Squires created havoc but it was Mayfield's big forwards, who battered the Panther line, who caused the damage. The Panthers held fast but were unable halt this powerful side. The final result came down to the more superior kicking game of the Panthers. Try scorers: Ibbison (4) Heyes (2) Dale. Conversions: Ibbison, Jones, Fishwick, Dale
Under 11's Halton Farnworth Hornets 28 v Chorley Panthers 0 Once again Chorley failed to take any control as the Widnes outfit totally dominated from the outset. Once again the defence was left to one or two as the rest watched on. Top Tackler Glen Finch, Connor Howard and Lee Holt tried to withstand the onslaught but without the back up it was just not enough. Most Improved player Jake Barker made good ground and took up some of the pressure. Men of the match Ryan Berry and Joe Harrison had great games. Joe in his first for the panthers. Two good chances came, over on the wing on two of the few times the ball got out there but a superb defence from the Halton boys held them out.
Under 12's Oldham St Annes 15 vs Chorley Panthers 8 An excellent first 5 minutes with good pressure forcing opposition errors, but thereafter the first half was a lack-lustre performance with the Panthers trailing 10 - 0 at half time. The second half showed much better discipline with good tackling from Josh Haddon, Jack Bury and top tackler Robert Sanderson. A great try from Richard Holland and one from a very quick Man of the Match Mick Hough on his debut game for the Panthers.
Under 13 Girls. Queensbury 32 V Chorley Panthers 26 The Panther girls were held up in their own half for the first ten minutes of the game. After a change of play the Panthers opened Queensbury up with a good display of attacking rugby. On three occasions the Panthers sat back and allowed Queensbury to in for trys and Queensbury were leading 24 - 12 at the half time break. The Panthers hit back, running great lines and scoring in the corners. A gutsy, hard-fought game. Try Scorers: Blundell, Clarkson, Mayren, Ibbison and Ruse (2) Conversion: McNally
U13's Panthers 10 Widnes Moorfield 20 The Chorley side were unlucky not to take the points in this close encounter. After going two tries behind scrum half Paul Jones darted over with a fine individual effort. In the second half Nick Buckley went in at the corner to put the Panthers within four points of the visitors. This was followed by a period of sustained pressure on the Widnes line but the Panthers couldn't get over the line and then allowed Widnes in again for a late score. Sam McNally was always in the thick of the action out wide and Thomas Bridge showed great skills at acting half.
U14's CROSFIELDS 22 Vs CHORLEY PANTHERS 16 In this quarter final of the NWC Challenge Cup, Chorley where definitely the underdogs. With 6 first team players missing, through injuries and holidays, it was always going to be a backs to the wall affair. Unfortunately, someone forgot to let the players know. Although the Panthers lost this encounter, they walked away with a moral victory.
Crosfieds came out of the blocks flying. They where 10 - 0 up and looking to go further in front. However, as is becoming the pattern this season, Chorley came back and before you knew it they where 12-10 in the lead. It should have been more, but luck just wasn't on their side. The second half was just as intense as the first, with both sides proving that they could play some high class rugby. Back came Crosfields to take the lead again, but the Panthers weren't finished yet. Another score brought the game back to a knife edge. 16 - 14 to Chorley. By this time, the lack of replacements for Chorley was taking it's toll. As the clock wound down, Crosfields scored what was to be the last score of this game, 22 - 16 to the home side being the final score line.
This was a game of "what if", what if Chorley had had a full strength side, what if Crosfields didn't have the one player that made the difference, who knows? One thing is certain, Chorley only lost this game according to the score line, in every other aspect, they where the victors. No names, no individual praise, no special mentions. Every one of this team where magnificent, the coaching staff walked away from this game immensely proud of every one of the guys who pulled on the black and white jersey. Well Done

Under 7's Chorley Panthers 24 Blackbrook 28 A hard fought match with end to end rugby with the panthers extremely unlucky not to take the points. It was the sheer lack of replacements that took the toll as Blackbrook changed the entire squad at the interval. With the half time score standing at 20-4 Chorley spent much of the second period on the defence with a determination that just wasn't enough as the tired lads saw the match snatched in the final play. Man of the Match was Connor Baxter most improved were Dillan Gartside and Joseph Edge and Top Tackler was Josh Blacklidge. An excellent performance from every player today. Under 8's Blackbrook U -8's 40 - Chorley Panthers U-8's 8 A tough display of tackling from ALL the Panthers was not quite enough to overcome this big, powerful and well organised team from Blackbrook. Panthers try scorers, Cameron Boulter and Tom Sharp, proved that it was not one way traffic for Blackbrook. Panthers Man of the Match was Tom Sharp, Top Tackler was Harry Bowers and Best Effort came from Harry Swarbrick Under 9's Panthers U9's 24 Halton Farnworth Hornets 40 Panthers restarted their season with a truly courageous performance in bitterly cold conditions. Man of the Match Ibbison put on an impressive defensive display along with Lucas and Fishwick. Half back McNamara chased a man down just before the try line, but they went in at the break with the score at 6 - 24. The Panthers came out fighting with Dale, Wingeatt and Mayson-Cooper hitting the defensive line hard. Scowcroft and Squires pushed on and Jones ducked and dived to try to get through. A great kicking game from Heyes and some hard work allowed the Panthers to draw the second half. A good all round effort. Try scorers: Lucas, Ibbison (2) Heyes. Conversions: Heyes, Ibbison, Dale Under 11's Chorley Panthers 10 Crossfields 4 This home fixture saw really what this team can do with an outstanding defensive effort which was only penetrated the once in this epic match. Half time saw the scores stand at 4 each with a magnificent effort from Josh Jones who took a neat pass from Top Tackler Ryan Berry to slide over in the corner, Chorley were really unlucky on a number of other occasions with ball spills and a great defence from the opposing side. The second half saw a much more disciplined defence keep the Warrington side at bay and a superb try for man of the match Joe Harrison. again Chorley could have scored many more as gaps were found and mistakes made. This weeks most improved player was Matthew Wilkie who had a great time in the forwards and took up allot of the pressure. More please next week. Goal kick-Jones Under 12s Chorley Panthers 16 vs Westhoughton Lions 32 What entertainment. On a bright Saturday morning the Panthers had plenty of energy and outstanding enthusiasm. With the simple directive to enjoy themselves and do their best, they certainly followed instructions. The whole team gelled and gave a performance they should be proud of. Good work in all areas of the field with every player working hard and contributing. This hard work paid off with good approach play putting pressure on the opposition. The coaches were certainly very pleased with the team and the Man of the Match award was split between them all. Two tries from our new signing Mick Hough and another from Stewart Mclean. But poor discipline let Leigh back in the game and they rounded it off with a drop goal in the last 2mins. Michael Hilton made both of the conversions and kicked a penalty. man of the match was Paul Holden
Girls Rugby league at Chorley Panthers Chorley Panthers Girls U14 22 v Pendle/Leyland U14 8 Chorley put on a great performance against a quality mixed side. Pendle/Leyland went into the lead early but the Panthers stepped up a gear. The forwards worked hard battering the defensive line and the ball was slipped out wide as the Panthers made full use of the playing field. Player of the match was awarded to Deakin whose display in attack and defence was admirable. Try scorers: Ruse, Hudson, Wareing, McNally, Ward. Conversions: McNally
Chorley Panthers Girls U14 0 v Middleton 34 Again, another great performance in field play but the panthers were unable to score past top of the table Middleton. It was 6 - 0 to Middleton at half-time and the Panthers tried every trick to get past this tough side. Middleton had three quick players who tore through the Panthers defence to make full-length try's. The whole Panther squad worked together and played some good rugby.
Under 14's CHORLEY PANTHERS 16 Vs PILKINGTON RECS "A" 4
On a very cold and bitter Sunday morning, the Panthers certainly warmed up to this match. For the second week running, Chorley where forced to field a weakened side. Weakened only in the fact that players where missing due to holidays and injuries. Courage and commitment where certainly in abundance.
In what was to be a very defensive first half, Pilks where the first to strike, giving them a 4 - 0 lead. From this point, Chorley started to dominate, both in attack and in defence. After some good work by the forwards, Blundell went in on the right hand side. The kick looked good, but the wind took it to one side at the last second. The score stayed at 4 ; 4 until half time.
Both defences continued to dominate early on in the second half. With Ellis starting to run things on the park, the forwards started to enjoy this game. after some good rugby, Ellis went in under the post. With Smith taking over the kicking duties, it was 10 -4 to Chorley. At this point Pilks began to come back into the game. a last ditch tackle over the line prevented them from scoring. With the St Helens team throwing everything they had at Chorley, the Panthers showed that they can handle anything that is thrown at them. Lucas then broke down the middle, with support on both sides of him, he was spoiled for choice, choosing to go to his right, Clayton had the easy job of leaving the trailing defence behind him to go in under the post. A simple kick for Smith, made the score 16 - 4.
Full Results 07/08 March 2004 Under 7's Chorley Panthers 12 Halton Hornets 8 A hard fought game this week from two excellent sides. Both teams had an excellent defence that was hard to penetrate. The Chorley Panthers team deserved the win for the sheer determination they showed. With numbers still low and substitutions not an option they hung in there, Dylan Gartside and Harry Melling both had excellent games as did man of the match Joshua Blacklidge and Top Tackler Connor Baxter. This weeks best effort goes to Nathan Blamiere. Under 8's Leigh East 32 Chorley Panthers 32 Some excellent skills from Harry Bowers put Chorley a head mid way through the 1st half, with a solo run that impressed all. But Leigh fought back well and Chorley just held on to the lead at half time by 1 try. The second half saw Leigh push hard and the lead change hands a couple of time until Chorley took up a 2 try lead with the help of Man Of the match George Burton. But with less than 10 minutes left, a tired Chorley defence let Leigh back in the game and the score was drawn level with 2 minutes left. A last effort from Chorley was not enough with the whistle blowing before Chorley could take the honours. Excellent and exciting game from both sides.
Under 9's Chorley Panthers 12 Ince Rose Bridge 36 A fine first half performance saw the panthers fight hard to trail by only one try at the interval. Under 11's Chorley Panthers 8 Royton Tigers 10 An unfortunate outcome to what was an outstanding performance, with what turned out to be two vital goal kicks being the difference. An outstand defence from both of the teams, which took 15 minuets for Daniel McGrath to break the dead lock and saw the Panthers go in to the break 4-0 up. The second period was a nail biter; two tries in quick succession from the Oldham side during a rare lapse in concentration saw the visitors take the lead with one try converted. Top tacklers Joe Harrison and Ryan Berry were relentless along with most improved player Will Howlet kept the line tight and closed for the rest of the game. Men of the match Lee Holt and Connor Howard drove well and tackled hard but Chorley seemed unable to get over the whitewash, until a well worked ball went to McGrath who then spotted Howard who slid over just as the whistle was about to be blown. With the kicking game off today the Tigers took the spoils in this epic game. Under 13's Panthers 20 v Ince Rose Bridge 0 This was a crucial match as the points were vital for both sides in their fight for Division 1survival. The first half was a real arm wrestle and defence was on top with no points scored. In the second half the Panthers started to move the ball wide which resulted in tries for Josh Charnley (2) and Mike Dale. Anthony Monks couldn't have timed it better to go over for his first try for the club with a fine individual effort. This was a really tough encounter, the question was asked of the U13 side and they responded with their best performance of the season.
Chorley Panthers Girls U14 16 v Pendle Panthers Girls U14 12 A slow start allowed Pendle to dominate during the first half but as Chorley warmed they passed the ball out wide to Hudson who went in, in the corner. Chorley dug deep and the score at the end of the first half was 6 - 4 to Pendle. Panthertrax Newsletter
Welcome to a new Panther Trax for 2004. This is the Chorley Panthers newsletter and is open to everyone should they wish to submit something.
Chairman's Message It was nice to see the younger age groups back playing last weekend and thankfully the weather was kind to them. These are very busy times for the club and this shortened version of PantherTrax will free up more time for people to deal with more important matters that need addressing. At the moment we are applying for ‘Clubmark’, which is a 'Sport England' nationally recognised accreditation for all sports clubs who meet the required standards. That sounds like a real mouthful but basically we need this to increase our chances when applying for funding. All the information that we need from members is being collated by our secretary Jackie Dempsey so please support her when you are asked to fill in the various forms. We also have the presentation season about to start, the building of the clubhouse, the tournament to plan, tours to plan and any other number of jobs that need doing. I am pleased to say that we have a fantastic group of people helping at the club, which makes the job easier for all concerned. Having said that you may have noticed the car park taking shape over the last few weeks and the new 'ornamental' gates that are on. This is a massive improvement down at Chisnall and a special thank you for all their hard work must go out to Dave Ibbison (U10's and Girls), Paul Nicholls (U14) and Alan Thornley (Open Age). Thanks for your continued support, Finally I would like to thank Frank McMullen who has recently stepped down as Head Coach, for his efforts since taking over last year. Frank is a real character around the club and fortunately his vast experience will not be wasted as he is continuing to coach the U11's. I would like to welcome Mick Oxley who has taken over the Head Coach duties. Mick is the U14 Coach, he is a qualified 'Senior Coach', and he has represented the club on Regional Coaching Camps and is currently on the coaching staff at St. Helens RLFC. Mick is an established coach at the club who will continue the good work where Frank left off. Peter Bridge Focus on U7’s Now the second part of the younger ends season is under way, I would like to draw attention to our youngest team the U7’s. Steve Blacklidge is the coach and the youngsters are doing really well. Numbers are still quite low but despite this keep going out and winning the majority of their matches. Steve although doing a great job needs some help. Are there any of the U7 parents who would collect the membership fee’s and match day subs for him and perhaps come to the monthly
meeting to represent the age group and take back any issues to the team. This would take a great deal off Steve who then can concentrate on matters at hand “The Kid’s”. Also a rota would be useful for making the after match refreshments for home games, could someone step forward to coordinate this too. Any interested parties please tell Steve your willing to help in whatever small way and we then can get on with the game. Also Steve needs some assistance on the coaching side. Being the only ‘qualified’ person involved at this age we could do with an assistant coach and perhaps someone willing to do a referee course too. Ring Steve or Jackie if you’re interested in helping in this manner too!
VOLUNTEERS BARLA has requested that all volunteers in all clubs register their role with them, however small that role may be. 2004 is to become the year of the Volunteer and lots of awards are going to be up for grabs. Please see your team rep for a questionnaire and pass your info back to Jackie, Club Secretary who will then submit all the info back. Thanks.
Kingsmill “free kit for club” promo. Chorley Panthers are still collecting the tokens on the kingsmill bread products. Please could everyone who has been collecting pass any tokens to your rep ASAP so we know where we are? You can also deposit them in the collection box in Red Herring on match days. PLEASE DON’T STOP COLLECTING. Asda at Clayton Green have registered us with their events department who will give us free points depending on the amount we have already collected. Come on lets get collecting! I got 6 tokens while feeding ducks on Astley Park during half term. Much to my kid’s horror! “Mum stop rooting in the bin’s” was the cry. “Why not” was mine!
