In
the deadly world of Warhammer 40,000, the galaxy is a realm of
endless conflict and bloodshed, where the Imperium of Mankind wages
unceasing battle with the forces of Chaos; in the grim darkness of the far
future, there is only war...
Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 is a massive science fiction tabletop battle game set in a bloody period of interstellar conflict, where humans struggle to survive against alien enemies like the elfin Eldar, the green-skinned Orks and the terrifying creatures and Chaos Daemons of The Warp. Dark and gothic in tone, WH40K has been around for decades and spawned hundreds of supplements, magazines, books and more simulated wars than most games of its ilk.
A huge gaming hobby, mixing collecting, wargaming and model-making, GW's games have been around since the 1980's, and like most gamers who date back to that time, I too have a company of Imperial Space Marines - the Blue Blaze Irregulars - lurking in the back of my games cupboard. It seems like a lifetime ago that GW first released a Space Marine figure as part of their range, back when the company was still producing other products under licence and the Warhammer world was yet to be created; since then, the game 'universe' has expanded into fiction, with novels, anthologies, comics and a regular short story magazine, Inferno!
My first work for the Black Library began with 'Crimson Night' in Inferno! and since then I've gone on to write several novels and short stories set in 40K universe; read on for more about my work, as reccomended by Locus, Neilsen Bookscan, The Bookseller magazine and RPG United.

Flight... follows on from the
dramatic opening trilogy of the Horus Heresy series (Horus
Rising, False Gods and Galaxy in Flames). Having
