Grade 2 Competition
It was the first grade 2 of the year that the club was entering in and we had several bouncers competiting. Claire was competiting for the first time at grade 2 and was in the U13 girls, then their was Sara in the under 15 girls but she was on her own as Leigh was on holiday so she couldn't make it, finally in the under 18 girls we had for the first time a team of four bouncers, Lisa, Laura, Becky and Jess.

The event was held on May 4th at Cardiff in the Welsh Institute of Sport, so it was along day! First on was Claire, nerves certainly set in as she started her warm-up but with head coach Diane to calm her down she started to settle. After her set Claire was on target to maintain her grade 2 status so long as she kept her cool! Anyone who knows Claire knows that this is not one of her stronger points!!
She did however manage to go through her routine without too many hiccups and not only maintained but also qualified to grade 2 National finals.

Next were the under 18 girls, all very composed although Lisa was suffering from a terrible back - old age Lisa!! The girls bounced tremendously throughout all their routines and were very similar in scores to team Edgebarrow. All of the girls are very experienced at competiting now with some of them entering into their first competition when they were 8! However nerves started to set in slightly as all of them had new voluntary routines and this was the first time that they were competiting with them.
One by one they bounced their way through with just a couple of mistakes along the way unfortunately they couldn't quite catch up with Edgebarrow and were 2.0 marks behind them, so had to settle with 2nd place!! Well done girls! All of them maintained their grade 2 status and Jess qualified through to the grade 2 Nationals.

Finally Sara competed at the end of the day in the under 15 girls, things went fabulous and after her set routine was lying in first place! After her voluntary routine she had slipped just one place into second, not down to lack of form as she was scoring mid/high 8's of her form judges but her tariff of 5.6 was slightly behind that of the leader.
With just the final to go and the top 10 bouncing off to decide their final positions Sara was hoping to stay on the rostrum - and she did although lost one more place and finished in a marvellous 3rd position!
Well done Sara truly deserved after all that hard work!

The day was a wonderful success with everyone maintaining and three people qualifying to the grade 2 National finals.
Well done everyone!!

At the end of the day head coach Diane with husband Shaun and competitor Sara are truly shattered!!
