Following on from the huge success had the Staffordshire schools championships, we sent 17 competitors to the Midlans schools championships.
The championships were held on the 8th of December in Birmingham. Competiting in the closed section, all for the first time were: Nathan Russo, Alex Worrall, and Laura Swanick in the under 11's, Amy Griffiths, Laura Davis, and Sarah Pepper in the under 13's, and Beverley Davis in the under 19's.
In the closd section we had 10 members of the club: Lani Dacey, Leigh Docksey, Nicola McMahon, Samantha Davies and Claire Thomas in the under 13's, Jessica Barnett, Sara Fowell, Rebecca Broad and Laura McMahon in the under 15's and Lisa Broad in the under 19's.
We did extremely well in both the open and closed section winning a total of 3 golds. 2 silver and 1 bronze. We also had huge team success with St John Fishers RC under 15's team winning gold and their under 13's team finishing in silver position.
With all top 3 individuals and top 2 teams qualifying through to the zonals schools we were off to Essex in the New Year!!
Those that qualified were:
Individual: Nathan Russo, Lani Dacey, Leigh Docksey, Sara Fowell, Jessica Barnett and Lisa Broad.
Team: Nicola McMahon, Samantha Davies and Claire Thomas - under 13's. Jessica Barnett, Rebecca Broad, and Laura McMahon - under 15's.
