After batteling through five qualification rounds, building up her tariff and constant correction form her coach the day had finally arrived to see if all of that hard work had paid!
This years National Finals were held in Birmingham at the NEC on July 5th & 6th and Lani had qualified to the championships in March. The event is the biggest event of the year for trampolining in Great Britain and would decide who is the best, and who will be selected to train to represent GB.
The weekend began on Friday night where all of the bouncers along with their coaches travelled to the arena to have a final training session before the competition began.
Lani's routines have been progressively getting better and in her last five competitions had finished inside the top 5, and her tariff had increased to 8.2.
She was up against 29 othercompetitors and after the first day of competition was tying in 3rd place, having secured a top 10 position she was returning on the Sunday to try and improve her position with just one more ten bounce routine.
In a deadly silent arena Lani rose to the occasion and moved up a place to second with a suberb display!
Along with the silver trophy came an invitation to a World Class Performance weekend at Poole, Dorset at the end of July.
Straight after this Lani flew out to France for a week of training with National coaches as she strives to fulfil her ambition of representing her country.
Two weeks later Lani's dreams were answered, after very difficult and strenous training and conditioning tests Lani was selected to be a part of the World Class Performance programme which will see her travelling world-wide as a Great Britain Youth member!
Lani know has a very strict and difficult training regime to adhere to which should see her develop into one of the best trampolinists in GB. So with lots more hardwork from both coach and bouncer she will fulfil all her wildest dreams!!!
