In October we saw the last of the grade 3 - 7 for 2003. We had six members entered into this competition, with Naomi Yates (U11 - Grade 4), Laura Swanwick (U13 - Grade 4), Jessica Redfern (U13 - Grade 4), Nicola McMahon (U15 - Grade 3), Samantha Daives (U15 - Grade 4) and Paige Jones (U13- Grade 5).
It was a day of mixed fortune with wonderful performances from Naomi, Paige and Jessica who all gained a place on the podium whilst Nicky, Sammy and Laura didnt quite perform to their previous standard. Naomi sailed through to first place just scrapping the qualification mark needed to qualify to grade 3, whilst Jessica just missed out. Paige competing at grade 5 was brilliant finishing just 0.2 behind 1st place, and will next time be competing at grade 4.
Laura unfortunately performed an open pike back and it was deemed straight and so she was unable to qualify despite scoring the highest marks in both the vol and final round - so she will again be chasing for qualification to grade 3 in January.
Nicky and Sammy were not quite up for the fight and although completing their routines failed to score the marks needed to qualify so its back in the new year where Sammy moves up to U18 whilst Nicky stays put in U15 Grade 3!
