From the uphill approach, most horses (and some riders) don't see the second and third parts of this fence until they are almost on the first part. The ditch is "hidden" between the 2 centre poles so it is often not seen until you're right on it. Currently there is a stride from part 1 to the ditch and a bounce from the ditch to the laid tree. The tree will shortly be taken out and moved to about 2 strides after the ditch to give a more forgiving exit.
