Commercial Sheep Flock

We run a small (25 ewes) self contained sheep flock to complement the grazing of the cattle. 6-8 ewe lambs are retained each year, with surpluses sold either for breeding or fat.

Our aim with the sheep is a flock of white-ish faced ewes producing 2 lambs per ewe per year. Lambs should be reaching close to 20kgs deadweight in 14 weeks and achieving U and E, 2 and 3L grades.

Breeds.
Based on Bleu du Maine cross Texel or cross Lleyn ewes, they have been back crossed to a Texel. In 2002 we purchased a Charolais ram lamb to cross onto the 3/4 Texel ewes to improve growth rates.

Lambs.
Lambing starts in mid February and all single born ewe lambs are sold fat along with the wethers from June onwards.

We would be more than happy to supply ewe lambs on a regular basis to other producers looking for good value, quality, productive sheep.
