A lot of Magick is done by the phrases of the Moon and you must understand the phases of it before you can undertake any ritual,
The timing is very important and choosing the Date, Moon phase and the Season sometimes also the day of the Week and even going as far as the planetary hours. If you new to magick it is much easier at first to understand just the phases connected to the moon and you would do well to have a diary or a calendar with the Moon phases on.

Gabriel is the Archangel of the Moon and he is usually pictured wearing a crescent moon on his forehead. This is a lunar Symbol covering the “third eye” from which the psychic power comes from.

The Waning Moon is best for cleansing or banishing negativity.

There is 12 to 13 Moons in a year, one in every 28¼ days. There are 13 months in a year recognized by atrologers and Occultists. This is Arachne, which comes between May and June. (Arachne being the Spider).
Every 2-3 days the Moon will be “Void of Course” for a few hours, or essentially between signs.
Each cycle of Waxing and Waning Moon spans several days. This is where the knowledge of Astrology.albeit. A minor amount is an advantage.

The influence of the stars and Planets upon life on earth is another science on which Magick rests. A great number of Wiccans and Witches study this; Astrology studies the life frequencies of the Solar System. There are 7 planes of existence in our Solar System and which have been named after the Gods who rule the 7 rays: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
These are the planets, which are visible to us and are the physical manifestation of these influences, which have effect upon our lives.
