About Clipston BroadBand

BroadBand? Whats that all about?

This Is Clipstons Own Campaign page for getting Clipston Connected to BroadBand and I need YOUR help to do it.

Why bother?

Why not!

Well connecting Clipston to BroadBand will offer more Benefits than you are aware, for example Clipston primary school will be able to use the power of BroadBand to help with the education of our children, local small business will also be able tap into it's power to help them grow and it will enable many of our villagers to work from home thus reducing the number of people commuting to an office when they could do the work at home, which helps the enviroment!
Our older villagers will be able to stay in contact with family and friends who are no longer near by and of coarse the increase in speed and always on connections will improve online gaming, internet digital radio and t.v. as well as download and upload speeds what ever it is you do online BroadBand will make it quicker and better.

Ok sounds good what next?

Now here is where you use the power of your computer, to get Clipston connected to BroadBand we have to register our intrest with BT (no commitment) once they see a large number of people showing an intrest they then begin there very slow process of giving us a trigger level, at present we need to get that trigger level, we can work from there once we get it!

But if we don't do anything now neither will BT!

If you want to help me in this campaign contact me: CLIPSTON4ADSL@AOL.COM

UPDATES: Please read as info above may change!

08/07/2003

I have received conformation from BT that my campaign to get Clipston contected to BroadBand has been accepted and that I will head up this campaign for our village, of course I will accept any help offered from people wanting to get involved (Hint!).

10/07/2003

I have received an Email from BT concerning our trigger level or lack of one! Here is what they had to say:

Dear campaigner

Thanks for visiting the Get on and get it website.

We've noticed that you don't have a trigger level set for your exchange yet.
This is to let you know that BT are reviewing your exchange area and we will
contact you within the next
two weeks to give you an update on whether a trigger level will be set for
your exchange.

So as you can see only two days into the campaign and a positive responce at last from BT, I had been asking BT to tell when they would consider our exchange for a trigger level for almost six months with the repeated answer "we have no plans for your exchange". Well now we will get an idear soon on how much work we will have to do, fingers crossed!

17/11/2003

Well it only took 5 MONTHS for BT to get back to me and tell me they have given us a trigger level, must be a record by there stadards!

Any way we now have to get 100 people to register and then we can get a date of when they will update our exchange, so it's all to do now!

Remember, if we do nothing neither will BT!

18/11/2003

New Link added below that will take you too BT's BroadBand coverage page for our region, look at the EXCHANGE TRIGGER LEVELS and click the link for a full listing, the pop up box contains details of all exchanges in our area including our own dear village Clipston, we are in the 46.00% area it's a big list!

Techie info......

Just for those of you who like to know this sort of stuff! our exchange should be able to deliver a 2Mbyte connection, bet thats grabbed your attention!

Response so far to the campaigne has been good, but as the teacher would say "could do better"!

I have ordered car stickers, flyers and mailers from BT to help get things going, should get them soon.

11/3/04
Well with a bit of luck all the flyers and car stickers have now gone out to you all.

Been abit busy for a while been hard to keep track of whats going on, but I should have more time to spend on this campaign now.

Some people have sent me emails asking me to add them to the list, I can't do this as the list of people in clipston who want broadband has nothing to do with me, you must register your intrest with your own ISP or with BT on their web site, I would surgest registering with BT as this speeds up the process, However if we ever get Broadband you may wish to shop around for who you want to supply this service to you, without saying too much (and getting myself in trouble!) you may wish to read between the lines on supply issue!

If you want to help me with this campaign please send me an email could do with some new idears i'm running out of them.

Also I'm trying to find out wether Arthingworth is on the Clipston phone exchange, this could help to boost numbers.

26/03/04

Just had some good news from BT it would now appear that Arthingworth also comes under the Clipston Exchange, So this means I now have to extend the campaign to Arthingworth I will need help to do this So I'll wait until I can find some before I start the campaign there.

27/04/2004

BIG NEWS!

As of today the registration system being used by BT is scrapped! The scheme has been a massive sucess in many area's and as a result BT now no longer this scheme helpful for many reasons. At the end of June BT will publish dates for connection of all remaining areas that includes Clipston, So we are going to get BroadBand we now just have to wait until June to find out when!

I would like to thank eveyone who has helped in this campaign, and a special thanks to Becky Vials for delivering the junk mail!

My campaign is now over the only future update I'll make here will be the date of when we get BroadBand.
