Dive in Ball 2003
Saturday 18th October - A group of Darius fans got together to have fun and raise money for the Prince's Trust...here is an account of the evening - thanks to Jayne for the use of her pictures again, and to Abs for transcribing Darius's video message.
Each guest received a goody bag, containing body lotion, a candle and a cute little teddy bear!
Our group arriving (from left, Kirsty, Heidi, Belle, Abs, Jacqui and Me)
Abs, enjoying her meal!
Before the meal started, a surprise - a screen was pulled down and a video message from Darius was played!  The following is a transcript of that message..

“Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the Dive in Ball 2003!

I am so glad you came this evening, I am sorry I can’t be there, but thank you very much for coming and thank you for raising money for The Prince’s Trust.

I am in the studio currently working on, I suppose it’s the follow up to “Dive In” the album that you made platinum as depicted by the Platinum Disc on the wall here and er .. I’ve very much enjoyed this last year, in fact the last three years have been quite a journey and I could not have done it without you. Thank you for your votes on Pop Idol; Thank you for your support through Colourblind and thanks for making the album a success.

But, beyond that, tonight is your night! It’s about music and above all it’s about raising money for a great charity. As I say, I am sorry I can’t be there but I am working very hard in the studio, in London, over in Los Angeles and further afield all across the world to bring you a follow up album in 2004 that I hope you will enjoy very much.

Enjoy your Chicken! – and thanks to Sue and to all the other organizers for putting together such a wicked night! I hope you will enjoy a couple of the items of clothing that I have worn on tour or on television that I have signed and I hope they raise lots of money for charity.

Have a great night and I hope we can “Dive In”
Several autographed items were auctioned off, including the items of clothing Darius mentioned....a shirt went for £200 - and these boxers went for £110 - to me!!!
Another major fund-raiser of the evening was "Zooey in a Kilt" - what started as a joke on the Darius message boards..("yes of course I'll wear a kilt if you ladies stump up enough cash...") became a reality - Ian, you are a star! and at last count, £200 was raised.
The dancing and fun went on well into the small hours
Total raised so far....... £1500!!
