NAZE PROTECTION SOCIETY: CLIFF HERITAGE PROJECT | FUNDRAISING APPEAL
Spring 2005:
Two sections of the cliff face - with an area of five and six square metres respectively - broke away from the coastline, beginning their inevitable journey to the beach below. Undercutting by wave action has weakened the foundations of the geological status quo, thus causing the collapse. The grass on the eroded material is 'leaning backwards' as it follows the classic rotational line of descent.

Looking south, the degree of slumping can be clearly seen with the freshly revealed cliff face on the right of the picture now at the mercy of spring showers and the threat of mud slides. In the distance can be seen the 'A' frame of Tower Groyne. Even if the council designed and charity funded 150-metre revetment extension for CRAG WALK had been in place, it would still have fallen short of the length required to prevent a cliff fall at this point.
