Cresswell cars - This venue is situated on the east coast near the Newcastle area, a few miles from Newbiggin. All around the east coast the species that are likely to be caught consist of Cod. The venue fished is a small beach right beside rocks. The beach will fish for cod in the rough weather as the fish will be coming off the rocks looking for food, but if the weather is not rough then the rocks are the place to be. The rocks are a tackle graveyard so rotten bottoms are essential. The rocks are kelp lined so with the terrain in mind a stout rod and line to match are needed so that you can keel haul the fish out. As with any cod fishing worms are the norm with fish baits and squid an close second crab will out fish everything in the summer , large baits are needed for the bigger fish. Best tackle to use is one hook sliding traces with simpler the better being best. Large casts are not essential as the terrain consists of gullies so vary your casting and move about to find the fish. Fishing the beach will see you into the usual suspects of flatties.
