Lindesfarne (Holy Isle) - This island is only accessible by a causeway which appears at low tide. The castle dates from the region of Henry viii when "all havens should be fenced against the Scots". It's importance deminished after the Union of Scotland and England in 1603 and was used as a coastguard station in the 19th century.
