NEWCASTLE TRIP
RON'S SCOTTISH ANGLING
NEWTON-ON-AYR
Newton-on-Ayr was created as such as the land was given to forty eight individuals by Robert The Bruce for valor at the Battle of Bannockburn.  It was those individuals who created the town as it is today.

Newton-on-Ayr is also well known for its association with the St Nicholas golf course, this is where the first open golf championship was held.  Also the club house in those days was a pub called the Red Lion where ladies of the night would ply their services in the upstairs rooms, the pub remains to this day although greatly modernized
The promenade at Newton-on-Ayr is also known for the sunken coal boat located at the far left end of the promenade, it can be seen in its entirety at low tide and only the tip of it's mast can be seen at high tide.   I can't find any history or how it got there so if anyone knows please get in touch by using the link at the bottom of the page
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD ANYTHING TO THE HISTORY PLEASE CONTACT ME USING THE LINK BELOW
