Loch Etive - Loch Etive is found in the North west of Scotland and is a tidal sea loch. The loch itself is extremely deep and reaches 300-400 feet deep in parts. There are many places to fish but I will talk about the ones that I have fished at myself. If you cross the Connel bridge and turn right then follow the road you will come across a church, if you fish at the church then you have a good chance of bagging up on Thornback rays and spurdog. The ground fished into is sand but there is a ledge about 30 yard out which is the start of the very deep water. Other fish can be found in the loch are cod, whiting, pollack, collies and doggies, almost anything can be caught in the loch even trout and salmon which come down through the freshwater rivers that empty into it. Tackle that should be used are heavy lines no less than 20lbs, I myself also use wire traces so combat the spurs slicing through with there sharp teeth. Baits are very simple as fish baits like mackerel and herring are all that's needed, I have taken crab, worms, etc but none of them out fished mackerel.
Another spot I have fished is at the Quarry. If you follow the road to its end then you are at the quarry itself, then enter the quarry and drive until you get to the machinery and boulders and choose a spot, it's that simple. Every time I have fished here I have had a good session with plenty of spurdog the best being 12lbs (see below) but there are a lot bigger to be had. I have also had cod to 6lb and recently had a Thornback Ray of just under 10lb (pictures will be added soon as).
